Stared into the night only to find
Lights that guide me, eyes lost in time
And the starry dreamer cradled in his pride
Lonely, but not alone, please take back the night

City of pleasure and bright that killed the moon
Take my shadows from this room
They dangle from the ceiling in taunting loom
They seem more frightening than I presumed

If you were to keep me from my own end
One which you have done, oh lover, oh friend
For the words you blew into my lungs were not pretend
You saved me from the rope near the staircase once again

Mended hands that pulled the Devil's tooth
To live and sing of drunken truths
And dying eyes lifted to shed for you
The dark filled with the yawp of the sleepless youth
