I hadn't seen or spoken to Alistair in two days, and I wasn't going to cave in. It was nighttime now which meant it was time to overthink every single thing about my life especially what Arden suggested. I needed tea, something to help me fall asleep longer than five minutes, I wrapped myself in my robe before heading downstairs to the kitchen. I grabbed the kettle and started boiling water, my head was pounding with so many thoughts about everything.

My head was in the palm of my hands as my back leaned against the counter, what he was asking for seemed nearly impossible.

"Couldn't sleep?" A voice said out of the darkness, my body turned around facing the familiar voice.

Knox placed his mug down on the island, I turned to face the tea kettle trying to avoid looking at him.

"No, I just thought a tea would help." I mumbled under my breath, my hand grabbed a mug from the cabinet.

I'm hoping he'd read the room and understand I don't want to speak to him, I don't even want to look at him, especially after the conversation I had today. I heard him reach inside his pocket and pull out a baggy of some sort, it sounded like small pills.

"I have something for that, it'll knock you right out." He said, causally.

Drugs, he's offering me more drugs? I can't believe this, he's the one that's supplying Alistair with his addiction, and there was no remorse for it at all. It pissed me off so much that I whipped around, there was no more beating around the bush with him, I know his little dirty secret.

"You know it's killing him, why do you keep giving it to him?" I asked, my voice sounding way too heavy.

"It's my job."

"No, you and I both know that's not it." I said, my hand slammed against the wooden table between us.

His jaw clenched, his lips rubbing together as his hands balled into fists. "What are you implying, Elara?"

"You know exactly what I mean."

"No, I really don't." He said sounding angry, way too angry for someone who's acting clueless.

I shook my head in disbelief, how much longer was he going to act like all he cares about is his job? I decided to be brave and I approached him, my feet moving slowly towards him as my head tilted upwards looking into his eyes.

"Does Zuri know that you'll never love her? At least not as much as you love him." I whispered, my voice dipping as my eyes filled with fury.

His mouth parted a little, his glare getting darker as he put my words together. Everyone knows about his secret except Zuri, maybe she senses it, how can you not? It's all over his eyes whenever his name gets brought up, he'd die for Alistair but not because of loyalty but because he's in love with him.
