CHAPTER 62

It turns out, All Might wasn’t kidding. Even with the Allmobile maintaining a low altitude to avoid interfering with air traffic, Izuku found himself being jostled around in his seat from turbulence as he keeps himself from hitting his body in the seat on the larger bumps. He’s thankful at least that the seatbelts hold up, and that whatever it was in that gas he can breathe out seems to be potent enough that the girl doesn’t wake up midflight. Or maybe she’s just that tired. The turbulence wasn’t enough for him to feel nauseous, but it’s hardly comfortable.

“Are you holding up, Young Midoriya?” asks All Might through the Allmobile’s communicator.

All Izuku could do was sigh with annoyance, "Yeah just great....maybe if I wasn't being jostled alot bit otherwise the two of us are ok"

“Glad to hear it!” There’s a pause. “I wasn’t exactly given a full briefing on the situation. I know that a girl attacked you and you believe she needs help. What can you tell me about her?”

This got Izuku to look through the window with a thoughtful look on his face, "She was looking for me specifically,” he starts with. “According to her she thought I looked ‘cute’ in the Sports Festival, which is how she knows my name. But she also cited my recent… altercation with Stain when she found me. That might have been a tipping point for her to seek me out.”

“If she learned your name from the Sports Festival, it’s possible she used that press conference Miruko held in order to locate you,” All Might says thoughtfully.

“That’s what I figured,” says Izuku. “She looks like shit and I mean it as like Half her hair is undone, and I don’t know if she has another change of clothes. I can see bags under her eyes and she wasn’t walking steady. When she identified me, she called me ‘cute’—I think I already said that—and said I would be cuter if I was covered in blood. My quirk gave me a run down on why and I figured out that she needs to consume blood for her Quirk, kind of like how Sato needs sugar? But from her obsession, I think it’s possible that she needs blood regularly, even if she isn’t using her Quirk.”

“A reasonable hypothesis,” says All Might. “I’ve heard of similar Quirks. We won’t know for certain until after Recovery Girl takes a look at her. Continue.”

Izuku simply nods his head not wa tibg to answer him even more but he had to continue, “I asked her if she needed blood and she—how do I put this? She gave me a rehearsed answer. About how ‘normal girls don’t drink blood.’” He hears All Might suck air through his teeth. The Hero already seems to know where he’s going with this. “ And when I realized her Quirk needs blood, she said something like, ‘you’re going to hate me now.’”

“Well,” says All Might heavily. “I cannot say I approve of you giving your blood to strangers on the street, especially without taking any kind of sanitary precautions, but I agree with your conclusion. From the sounds of it, this girl needs help.”

"...*sigh* hey....Allmight?" Izuku says with a straining look on his face, "There's...something that’s been nagging me for a while ever since I met the girl...what if this girl is a Villain?”

All Might hums. “That is tricky. Heroics works in a lot of gray areas, Young Midoriya. She is a young woman in need of our help. But she may also be guilty of, from the sounds of it, assault and battery, and potentially even murder depending on how she has been acquiring blood. But from her behavior and words, it is also clear that someone in a position of authority over her may have gone so far as to functionally starve her. Be it her parents, guardians, or teachers, such actions cannot be permitted!” All Might takes a deep breath. “I suppose I have no answer for you better than: we shall cross that bridge when we come to it.”

Izuku didn't say anything else as he spares a glance over at the blonde girl in the seat next to him. She seems much more peaceful in her sleep than she had been. And not just because before, she had tried to give Izuku an impromptu vivisection. Despite how clearly exhausted she had been during their encounter, the girl had remained incredibly tense the entire time. Now, all of that tension was gone. Most of that was because she’s asleep, as her soft snoring keeps reminding Izuku. But something tugs at his heart knowing that the only thing that brought her any level of calm was being knocked out.

She was almost similar to him. Her fear that he would hate her once he learned about her Quirk. That phrase about ‘normal girls,’ something she’s heard so often that she can recite it from memory, like it’s the expectation. It’s all achingly familiar from his time Quirkless.

“What was it Rumi said?” Izuku murmurs to himself. “Same shitty clowns, different fucking circuses?” That seems accurate from his read on the situation. Izuku sighs quietly. One day he's going to meet someone who didn’t have a shitty time in school. One day. He’d like to consider his friends in Class 1-A, but given Uraraka, Tsuyu, Shoji, and Hagakure—he’s willing to bet a decent number of his classmates have their own horror stories.

Izuku scratches at the back of his head At the very least, UA was different. Bakugo wasn't like the ptick from back then...although he's still a bitch and can't admit that there's someone stronger than him And Mr. Aizawa hasn’t used Midoriya as a negative example of anything. None of his teachers do, Everyone at UA has been incredibly kind and understanding. It’s a little overwhelming, if Izuku was totally honest. And speaking of teachers…

A lazy but confident grin stretches across Izuku’s face. Internship Week was over, and tomorrow, everyone will be back. He can’t wait to see what everyone else learned from their mentors! But there’s another reason he’s so excited, 'You told me to turn some heads, Rumi. I’m gonna show my class what a fucking bunny can really do!'

“You’ve just reached the halfway point,” All Might chimes in. “It’s about another twenty minutes or so until you arrive at UA.”

As Izuku heard that he couldn't help but stare at the window, seeing his reflection...his eyes Red as crimson...hair white as snow...and smile that can haunt those who went through and conquered their demons....but not this one.

Meanwhile the same being within Izuku's subconscious was humming a tune with amusement, watching as it can see more its body being shown with a smile that plastered on its face.

"I must admit...I thought it would've been much later for me to see myself...I guess you're getting stronger, Izuku...but not strong enough to face...'Him' "
