Humming along to that song, I scrubbed the pan. The house was quiet and I couldn't help the sway of my hips that followed, remembering the exquisite feeling of being wanted, of being desired and desirable.

"Do you want to tell me what that was about?" Dan asked.

Everyone had gone home, and I was tired but Linda and Carla had helped put away almost all of the dishes and leftovers. After they dished up a plate for themselves, leaving me alone in my little fantasy.

One that I wanted to revisit. Many times. The memory of it was like saving the most expensive delectable piece of chocolate for later and then coming back to it only to savor a single bite. I wanted it to last.

"Are you still on that?" I asked him. I couldn't lie. I was kind of loving how upset he was by whatever that was that had been my partner.

"I'm not making it up," Dan said.

"Yet, you are the only one who saw it...some thing dancing with me. Are you trying to accuse me of something, Dan?"

He scratched his head and stood at the counter. I knew, to his scientific mind, he didn't believe in energies, or ghosts or spirits. He didn't even believe in God. Whatever that was out there with me, as much as I wanted to question what it was, I only allowed myself to accept it for the gift that it was. Plus, it had opened Dan's eyes. The rage that had come over him I hadn't seen since he had to fight for my attention back at school.

"No...I...just don't know what to think."

"I think you're just tired. Maybe you should hit it early tonight." I liked that idea because not only would he not hog the television, but that I could also play that dance song again.

"You weren't even moving along with the model on the television. You looked like you were putting on a show."

He kind of sounded like a jealous bitch. "Was I acting inappropriately?" I asked, with a little pout.

"Kind of."

"Oh. So, what's the problem, Dan? That I looked good out there? That you didn't want anybody else see me dance like that? Or that I used to dance that way for you?"

He huffed. "Nevermind. I'm going to bed."

I smiled. I was becoming a new me. The old me would've chased him and apologized and promised never to dance that way in front of company ever again. The new me, however, waited until I heard the door close to our bedroom and turned on the dance game one more time.

"Now what?" Cora asked Jeff. "Look what you did. You've got Dan mad at her."

"She didn't do anything wrong. She was fantastic out there. If he were a bigger man, he would have appreciated that his wife of almost 10 years could still dance that way. He should be in awe of her."

"Biased," Cora sang. She turned to Bill. "What do you think, Bill?"

"Risky. But, who knows? It sparked something in him that wasn't there before."

"Plus, look at all the confidence it gave her," Jeff gushed, biting his lip and watching and following along with her movements but on this side of the veil. "She felt desired. He should make her feel that way everyday."

"Whoa whoa," Bill said. "Has she made him feel that way?"

Jeff faltered. "Well, no, but..."

Cora knew that Jeff knew his objectivity was supposed to stay in place throughout her life journey. He'd known his role and accepted it as a guide. They'd decided together, but as of late, Jeff's human qualities tended to seep in and she didn't know if he would be able to rein it in. If that were true, that meant Jeff was feeling threatened by Dan. That he didn't truly want him in her life.
