(Happy Father's Day!)
After finishing breakfast with Dan, Phil decided to go into town for some groceries. "I'm headin' out Dan,text me if you need anything." He shouted into the hall. A muffled "Okay!" was thrown back at him. He grabbed the house key and shut the door before making his journey down the stairs and into the street. He did his usually thing and window shopped while passing all the stores. He was nearly to the market when something caught his eye. It was beautiful purple gem in the window of a jeweler's shop. Something about it was mysterious, yet... intriguing. He opened the door, it was dark and uncomfortably stuffy. "Hello?..." He almost whispered. The only response was his heart beating faster than before. He looked around before deciding to leave, They must be on break or something. He thought. Suddenly, a dark figure emerged from a back door and quickly entered behind the counter. "Hello," the figure said stiffly. "What do you seek?". Phil hesitated before answering, something here wasn't right. "Th-that purple gem in the window," he stuttered "I think my uh-friend might like it". Which wasn't a lie, Dan might think it was just a pretty. Maybe it could even be a gift. "Ah a nice choice. Go ahead, take it." The figure gestured towards the gem. Phil reached into his pocket to pay but the figure interrupted him. "I'll take no cash, my only requirement is that you heed my warning. That gem holds great power, and with that, you must insure it's only used for good." Phil could see a toothy grin form on the stranger's mouth before he exited through the back door. He stumbled back out the door of the shop and stuffed the gem in his pocket. Great power? As if. It'll be a funny story for Dan though. He thought. And with that, he continued to the market, unaware of how wrong he really was.
