For the very first time in my life after ten years I felt my heart beating this fast. It was like my heart was ready to pop out of my chest at any given moment and jump right into Eraya’s hand.

I kept staring at my hand that was a few hours ago in Eraya’s hand. No girl had this effect on me. The last time I felt like this was when I had that fight with her and she didn’t come to school after that day for a week. I didn’t even see her leave her house and the coward I was, I didn't go to her house that was right next to mine. After that silent week I got the news that her family was moving to Paris, that was the last time I saw her and that was the last time my heart beat this fast for any girl.

My office door burst open and John entered the room. “Now would you answer what the hell was that? Why did you behave like an asshole?” He shouted and I sighed realising that this was going to be a long story to tell.

“Well then, if you are so eager to listen to Asher and Eraya’s story then comfortably sit down and we will begin.” He sat down on the couch in my office and looked at me curiously as I made my way towards the seat next to him.

“So this is how we met…..”

[FLASHBACK]

It was a very beautiful spring day when a car stopped in front of the house next to mine. I looked curiously at who the people were from my yard when my parents walked out of our house to greet them.

“Asher come here”

My mom called and I ran towards her. “Good morning Mr. and Mrs.Kapoor” My dad greeted them and they shook hands. “Good morning Mr. and Mrs. Grey.” My mom pushed me forwards and crouched down next to me as she introduced me to them. “Asher from today onwards they will be living in Grandma’s house. Say hello.” I  looked up at them and said hello but the shock was finally sinking in.  my parents had sold my Grandma’s house to these strangers. The house that I grew up  in, where my Grandma used to teach me how to draw and make clothes; My parents have sold the most precious thing of my life, the last memory of my GRandma to these people.

Suddenly their daughter walked out from behind and looked me straight in the eyes. She was wearing a bright pink dress and a big pink bow was tying her long black hair in a ponytail. She extended her hand towards me but overcome with rage I swatted her hand away and ran towards my home. My mom was yelling my name from behind but I didn’t listen.

After around fifteen minutes my room door opened and my mother walked in. “Why did you do that to Eraya? It’s not good manners.” She said but I looked away in anger.

“Asher, you are six years old right? You yourself said that you are a big boy so the way you behaved is that how big boys behave?” My dad came and sat down next to me and asked me. I turned to look at him with tears  in my eyes.  “But that house was Grandma’s, how can you sell it to someone else?” My dad took a deep breath in and wiped my face. “I know Asher, but now that Grandma is not here, don’t you think someone else should live in that house and keep it clean and protect it.”  My mom came and sat down next to dad and caressed my head.
