If I kept better records of my writing, or a diary, I would know exactly when I started writing this, how exactly 'Citizens of Tomorrow' came to be. I had a love affair with the indie rock band Tokyo Police Club in high school into university, when their third album Champ came out, in 2010. It might have been around that time, or a couple years after, when the idea for this story was born.
After the first two parts were written, I left it for quite a long time, until, from 2018-2019 I set out determined to finish an old work. My aim was to keep the style consistent to what I'd started with, my idea of an 'English light novel' written in a very 'condensed' style. It was written in Word on pages that were divided into two columns. As I wrote, I spaced my writing often to hold myself to that style, which is why there are no long paragraphs in this series.
I feel like there's a difference in the writing from the first two to the other three parts. I was older, and perhaps, my writing had improved. You'll have to decide that for yourself. I know it's not all good, or as good as I think it could be everywhere, but I'm proud of the characters, of the story, and for completing a work that was a labour of love. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did.
