I’ve heard great things about this boy. I was shocked I could select my new UNIT members and among all the options, Luca Bates was one I couldn’t pass up. His cognitive and physical abilities were off the charts. His muscle structure is like it was perfectly made to do field work and since he’s young he can grow even further. I can’t wait to see how he develops.
Angus Flett was also another one I needed to choose. Angus and Luca were a package deal. They knew each other from very young and their thinking abilities together were unbelievable. They supported each other, helping each other with what the other lacked.
In anticipation, I urged Luca to hurry up and punch the dummy. His gray-blue eyes glanced at me before raising his fists. With precision and speed, his fist connects with the dummy’s upper body. And with Luca’s strength, the tree behind the dummy shook violently, startling him. His shocked and bewildered expression tells me he wasn’t expecting much with that punch. A few fiery leaves floated to the ground around him, like embers from a raging fire.
“Again,” I barked the order, “For real this time.” Luca looked at me in a daze before looking down at his hand, which he clenched in a grabbing motion a few times. Bringing his left foot forward and digging his right foot into the grass behind him, he thrusted his fist forward into the dummy, splintering the wood behind it. The tree shook again, leaves and small branches fell. A decent-sized twig fell and hit him on the top of his head. He flinched, stumbling back as it fell in front of him. He whines and rubs his head. I chuckled, watching this boy complain about a couple of twigs.
Satisfied, I dismissed him.“Please record the data from the dummy and give Mr. Flett his physical exam,” I told Jules. She gave me her beautiful closed-eye smile.
“Sure!”

As I sharpened my knife on the whetstone, a familiar pair of strong arms embraced me in a hug from behind. Byron’s nose nuzzled in the crevice of my neck as his hands fondled my sides.
“You’re getting a little too handsy. We’re on the job,” I mumbled to him, sighing with my eyes closed as he nibbled on my ear. Knowing this is going too far I switched to work mode. I turned my head to glower at him.
“If you don’t stop I will cut you,” Lifting my newly sharpened knife. Byron let out a short chortle in amusement before an affectionate gaze settled on his face.
“Melody, I love you. Marry me,” He blurted out earnestly. No matter how often he has said this it startles me every time.
“No,” I turned my face away, feeling my face flush.
"Okay," I could hear the pout in his voice. I closed my eyes when I felt his lips on the top of my head.
“I love him, but I'm not ready just yet,” I thought as I heard him walk away.

Just a mini chapter of Melody's POV. I will try to do more of everyone's POV, but I'll just have to find the right timing for it. And I swear we're going to get to the good parts!
Let me know your thoughts! 😊
