Havin School is a school specifically for the children living on Havin island. Even in the world list, this school comes on par with Harvard and Oxford in terms of cultivating future popular people. To sum up the reason for this, we have to look back to before industrialisation. During the years with the monarchy system, a special alliance was made.
Historically, it is said that the world was facing a crisis from special energy bodies from a different dimension. That dimension is part of this world and they both fit together like two puzzle pieces. A lot is not known about this topic and is considered myth by many rather than the actual history.
After solving the crisis, the top powers of the world settled on this island which made Havin Island an island of celebrities. It is said that this island is on the crack of the two worlds and the old families entrenched here have the duty to guard this crack. Many historians and self-proclaimed rational people scoff at this. They consider it a fiction made by the upper class to appease the citizens and justify making an expensive and extravagant Island. Many historians even argue that there is no such thing as two worlds but only world wars. The top powers gathered together just to keep an eye on each other and to prevent another world war. But despite the opposition and disbelief, this science fiction-like history is still firmly in history books.
As a celebrity Island, Havin Island houses not only the major families but also families that have gained wealth and famous celebrities. As long as you cross a certain threshold you will be qualified to live on this island made for nobilities. But once you go below this threshold you will be mercilessly thrown away from the island.
So the Havin Island School has children of famous and eminent people from all over the world. It can be said that every tile of this school screams low-key luxurious.
Entering the school, Joette exclaimed inside. Good taste! The school is like a mix of different styles but they are all in harmony. Despite being decades old it seems to keep up with the trends and seamlessly contain new styles and blend them with old ones. Everything produced an odd beauty. Apparently the school is redesigned by the winners and runner ups of the design competition. Changes are made even in school uniforms by students every year.
Anyway, people here have money that they can't spend in their lifetime. Or maybe they can? People go bankrupt every day. Many people often lose their citizenship of Havin Island. I have met dozens such families during the fourteen years I've lived here.
Joette and Aaron entered the classroom hand in hand. It was not really noisy. Everybody kept the conversation at low. After all, children here received more discipline than ordinary families. The newly entered family's children are even more restrained. At the entry of the two, everyone's gaze landed on the two.
Someone whispered, “Oh it's Aaron Burton!”
More whispers sounded, “Ah, who's with him?! I haven't seen her before!”
Joette even heard a group of shocked murmurs, like the world had collapsed, “The campus prince is holding hands with a girl!”
A group of girls even hurriedly comforted a girl in the middle, “Sheldon, don't worry you are easily prettier than that person. Even your hair color matches with Aaron. He will definitely choose you!”
So, my fiance seems quite popular? And can these people speak any louder? Why are you attacking my hair color? Although I also like Aaron's hair color…
Aaron greeted everyone and took Joette to the window seat, already putting up his persona of being a gentleman. The essence of Aaron is a mischievous gremlin which is vividly shown in front of Joette and his parents but he prefers disguises and teasing rather than outright mischiefs. The only reason he never pretended in front of the Burton family was because it was troublesome and unrewarding.
As for Joette, Aaron prefers to anger her with his antics because most disguised pranks just don't work on this person. He has already gotten tired of the question mark written on her face because she failed to understand his pranks. He first got a reaction from Joette when he filled the swimming pool with glitter and jumped from inside to scare her when she came to check what was wrong. Even the flower arrangement done by Joette as homework could not escape his claws. She then showed obvious signs of anger. It was interesting to see her wanting to beat him but cannot. He also discovered her pupils turning redder whenever she was angry. He named it the angrometre and specially made a list for the level of redness compared to the level of anger. So from that day, gentleman Aaron said goodbye to Joette taking all the peace with him leaving behind a mischievous devil to mess her life.
Reaching the seat Aaron introduced Joette to a boy wearing a nose ring with snow white skin who was surrounded by a group of people, “This is playmate number 1, the first in sequence.”
The playmate 1 spoke, speaking in a funny accent which is rare. The common language is taught to every citizen of the island from birth even before their own native language, ensuring that it is their first language. “I'm Dabah. Dear princess, the deskmate of Mr. Aaron.”
Aaron laughed in a low voice and said, “It's not called princess, you should use Miss instead Dabah. The sentence sequence is wrong, you should say, ‘Hello Miss, I'm Dabah, the deskmate of Aaron.’”
Dabah was embarrassed, “Yes. Sorry, I get nervous around girls…”
Aaron, “Ok ok, now can you vacate the seat please, I wish to sit with my fiance.”
Dabah, now the ex-deskmate, had a look of disbelief on his face but dejectedly sat a few seats away looking extremely reluctant but having no reason to argue.
Aaron whispered to Joette, “He's interesting right?”
Aaron also introduced her to playmates 2,3,4,5,6,7,8 and so on. Joette was not a social person in the first place and the signing eyes of these people look like the look in the citizen's eyes when their king conjured a girl out of thin air in the fairy tale books. Aaron considerately stopped at about 79th person because the class started.
Joette spent her first day in a trance feeling like she was floating. Trying to process the unbelievable thing that her noisy fiance is insanely popular.
Did I see wrong? Why do I feel this person is provoking me? In the book the girl also provoked the lonely neglected princess by showing off his many friends and suitors she has…
Aaron took back his power and sulked. All his hard work these months to save power just to hear his fiance's reaction to his popularity was flushed to the drain. Even after reading so many fairy tales she always put him in the same place as herself. Why even judge him from fairy tales ignoring the ready-made role of fiance?
Instead of getting the role of the one who made his fiance jealous, I get the role of a green tea girl showing her popularity… The dramas are all a lie…
He didn't feel anything wrong for criticizing Joette for judging people from fairy tales while himself believing in dramas which are the same thing in the essence.
Before the familiar question mark on Joette's face could materialize, Aaron subtly shifted the topic, “Joette, I'm so happy you are here! Now we can spend more time together.”
Joette nodded with a thoughtful expression. Unbeknownst to Aaron, Joette took the challenge seriously and became popular beauty in the school whose gentle personality is famous even among the teachers.
Of course many people believed her to be a cold and arrogant person due to the unilateral introduction on the first day. But the reality was that both Aaron and Joette were immersed in their own world with their own thoughts, completely forgetting to introduce Joette even politely. Resulting in Joette becoming an arrogant person who disdains to even introduce herself.
