Hold up. What does that even mean?
"You're my what?" I say a little bit louder than I expected.
"You heard well." He says with that uncanny grin still on his face.
"I don't have a brother," I say sure of myself while sitting back comfortably on the chair.
Who does he think he is? Going around and pretending to be my brother like that? I'd know if I had a brother. Unless...? No, it couldn't. THEY wouldn't have erased my memories. Of course not.
"I bet you have all kinds of different questions, but you'll know when the time is right," Luke says laughing.
I don't know what he finds so funny, but I don't find this little scheme amusing at all. In fact, I want to go back to my injection room as soon as I can and as soon as I find my bracelet.
"Could you be kind enough to give me back my bracelet?" I answer coldly.
"I'm afraid that won't be possible little brother." My supposed brother says still grinning.
I have to say, the resemblance is pretty high. The only remarkable difference I see is the colour of our eyes. His are grayer than mine. But everything else... seems quite alike. Could he be telling the truth?
"You see", Luke continues. "I brought you here for a specific reason and you won't need that bracelet anymore."
"But why? My life was perfect before. I had everything I wished for, and my injection was today. You have no right to try and control my life like that." I say furiously.
"Control you???", he says anger filling up his eyes. "You have the nerve to say that consider what I just saved you from."
On that note, Luke stormed out leaving me alone with my questions, yet again. What was wrong with these people? And what exactly did he save me from?
Darya's POV:
Luke enters my room, and I can see right away he's not happy. I learned with time what were the right things to say depending on his different moods and I guess I can say I know him pretty well, which is why I'm confused as to why he brought this boy here. He wouldn't have done it without a good reason. I just have to find out what it is.
"Maybe you were right Darya." He says, discouragement filling his beautiful grey eyes.
"Maybe I should have investigated more about his thoughts on THEM." He continues.
"You know you should always listen to me," I say laughing softly.
He rolls his eyes and smiles back at me. Good job Darya, mood lightened.
"Maybe he'll get a mind of his own when we'll show him." I continue with hope.
"You're right," Luke says gaining hope.
"Thanks for your always valuable advice. You're an amazing friend." He says winking at me and leaving my room.
Friend. Yeah. Sadly, that was what we were. I always had a small crush on Luke, but I guess I had always been like a sister to him and, of course, the best first mate he ever had. Unfortunately, he left before I could ask about the identity of the boy. Guess, I'd have to find out myself.
Aidan's POV:
Luke came back nearly as soon as he left. Guess he didn't want me to escape. Ha. Maybe he was scared of me and what I could do. Like exposing their secret hideout to the Superiors.
"Are you ready to know a bit more?", is the first thing he says to me while closing back the door.
"I guess bro," I say sarcastically. Luke rolls his eyes and then puts his devilish grin back on.
"Ever wondered why all you eat is a small disgusting pill every day," Luke asks.
"Because THEY say it's a waste of time to eat and prepare food. This pill gives us all the proteins and nutrients we need." I say unphased, but that seems to make him laugh.
"You never wondered what it was like to eat an amazing home-cooked meal." He says bringing his chair closer to me, studying each and every one of my features.
"Nah. Don't know what a home-cooked meal is and don't care," I answer.
"Mmh, this is going to take a lot more work than I expected," Luke says, getting up.
"Stay here. Someone will come and talk to you in an instant." He continues.
And he left the room, again.
Darya's POV:
Ugh. Luke wanted me to go and talk to the stupid boy. He said and I quote: "Your feminine charm might help Aidan realize a few things." Like I was supposed to be the charming one. I enter Luke's room where Aidan is locked in and see him analyzing his surroundings. His cheeks turn red when he sees I'm quietly judging him in the corner.
"Hello." He says, trying to sound confident, but I can see he's scared. But we shouldn't be the ones he's scared of. Pathetic.
"Hello, Aidan," I say sitting down on a chair in the middle of the room.
"It seems like you don't want to listen to Luke." I continue while fixing my fiercest look on him.
"Well, he's trying to pretend he's my da*n brother," Aidan says laughing.
Well, f*ck. Aidan was indeed Luke's brother as I thought. That's why he wanted to save him. I sit back on the chair and cross one of my legs on top of the other. I observe him without saying a word. This boy would never be a good rebel. His ideas were still THEIRS. He had no own opinions. At least, yet.
"Well, Aidan, you are," I say like I have known this information forever.
His eyes roll back a bit and Aidan crosses his arms on his chest. There. I could see the resemblance quite a lot.
"Listen here, boy. The people you call your Superiors are the real villains here and when you understand that you'll be ready to work." I continue while taking the arms of his chair and looking directly into his eyes.
"Of course, you'd say that. You're an inferior." Aidan says grinning.
That's it. The boy wasn't ready. And I couldn't deal with his sh*t anymore today.
"They're controlling you guys. Using the meal pills, using the bracelets. You'll get back some of your memories, if not all, soon enough. And then you'll understand." I coldly say while getting up and slamming the door on my way out.
How's that for feminine charm Luke?
