This is a long one.
Enjoy. <3

I never thought I'd see the day where I'd kill Regulus Black, the man I love.

But here I am.

I didn't kill him physically, no. His heart is still where it's meant to be, beating life into his chest. I killed him spiritually. I watched the life leave his eyes, his spark, his spirit, his fight extinguishing.

The moment he was gone, I waited until Voldemort left and I broke. Mattheo hugged me close to him, ensuring he fabric wrapping my body was entirely around me before allowing me to crumble apart like an old cookie.

He held the back of my head to his shoulder and Tom sat beside us in silence. Mattheo gave comforting noises and Tom stayed with his eyes closed in attempt to calm himself.

And, for the first time since I've known him, he looked unsettled.

I'm a pawn again, I realize.

I will be played, moved, and sacrificed all over again.

I'm a marionette on Voldemort's web of strings, incapable of going against him out of fear he'll hunt Regulus. But, at least I have Tom and Mattheo by my side.

The three of us are in my old bedroom in an empty Malfoy manor. The boys are sitting vertical against the headboard of the bed, my head in Mattheo's lap as he plays with my hair absentmindedly. Tom's legs are arched over my torso, his arms crossed over his chest as he glares a hole in my wall.

I'm wearing one of Mattheo's hoodies now, and a pair of his boxers which hang loosely from my hips. Mattheo hums a tune under his breath, one I don't recognize. Tom's eyebrows are furrowed as he stared at the purple wall paint ahead of him.

"What fucking song is that?" He finally snaps, Mattheo flinching in surprise.

He smiles awkwardly. "Bohemian Rhapsody, Queen. It's Novaline's favorite song."

"Regulus' is 'Welcome to the Jungle', Guns 'N' Roses." I mutter, speaking for the first time since Regulus left.

"Kaeda's is 'Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This', by Eruythmics." Tom whispers, shaking his head with a soft smile. "She knew all of those damn words."

"I never thought a muggle-born would turn you into the biggest softie." Mattheo teases, bumping Tom's arm with his free one.

I smirk at the two of them, rolling my eyes.

"Mona, why did you stay?" Tom asks, changing the topic. "You could've grabbed onto Bella at the last second, but you didn't."

I purse my lips. "I couldn't run the risk of your father chasing after us. I won't lose him. Even if it means I have to lose myself in the process."

He scoffs with a sad smile. "I wish I was as courageous as you. I would've run with Kaeda the second I saw the option to. I finally understood what you meant, Matt. It's utterly torturous."

I think back to our time on the run, Regulus and I dodging both aurors and death eaters, and now here I am, with them. I have to physically stop myself from smiling as his face flashes into my mind.
