Chan’s P.O.V:
We arrived at the door of her room. Clare knocked the door and went inside. “Stay here first.” She warns me, then closed the door. I waited outside for three minutes then the door opened. “Come.” She said. I step inside the room and saw her. The tears start falling again. I saw her mom sitting to the chair next to her bed. “Good evening ma’am.” I said. “Hi. You must be, Chan.” She said. “Yes ma’am. I’m her classmate.” I said. “I know.” She replied shortly.
I wanna get close to her, hug her and kiss her, but how? I bet Clare read my mind and asked her mom to go out for a sec. “Mom, uhhmm … can you please come with me? Dad said we should ask their pharmacy here if they have Mary’s meds.” She told her. “Why can’t he do it? Where is he?” she asked. “He went home to get stuffs. Come on, let’s do it now so that we can inform him that it’s not here and he can buy it outside.” She explained. Finally, her mom was convinced. “Chan, watch her for us. We’ll be back real soon.” she told me. “Yes ma’am.” I replied. She kissed her forehead, took her bag and left.
Now, it’s just us; Mary and me.
I walk closer to her bed. I can see her bruise and bumps, the discoloration of her skin, and her black eye. My poor baby girl, her whole body and skin is damaged. Much worst, she might have minor amnesia, and she’ll be up the next day or two. Will she forget about me?
The following day, I went back home to tell my mom what had happened. “Oh dear! Is she fine now?” she asked worriedly. “Yes mom. We’re just waiting for her to wake up, then we will know.” I explained. I went to my room to pack some things for the hospital. I asked her parents if I could stay there with them to watch over her and by chance, the agreed to that.
She was still asleep when I went back to the hospital. Her mom was sleeping in the other bed, her dad is back to work, and her sisters are at school. I skipped classes just to see her wake up. I was holding her hand, singing her a song that I wrote just for her. I felt her hands move then I got up to see if her eyes are open. “Gen!” I called her mom. She immediately stand up and went to her side. “Mary?” she asked. “Mom…” she replied weakly. “Oh Mary….” Her mom said crying. She recognized her mom, she is stroking her back. “Mary?” I asked her. She looked at me in wonder.
“Who are you?” …..
