A Great Woe

I was included in the blame.

Even though I did everything right.
I was still cast in the burning flame.
I was mixed with the people lined up in gunsight.

I've been everything and anything,
Still, I was set up against a great woe.
I was just a plaything,
In this uptight game.

All I do is sing and dance for this show.
Sadly I lost the fight long ago.
All of this casting, turning, and improving,
Just to be picked and tamed for the king.

Gladly I didn't get the memo.
Go on take your aim,
And throw me in the inferno down below.
Glow with fame, burn with shame.

Now say my name and spite.
I took flight in spring,
Here I claim,
The title of a great woe.

Who was once despite the upright faux,
A great and quiet foe.
Watch me rewrite and ignite,
The ring and wings from long ago.

In the middle of this sane night.
Counting and checking does and crows.
It's something like lingo.
The world is now free from a great woe.
