(to clarify, this takes place after code verionica, so this is the first time the two see one another again since late august of 1998.)

Status of their relationship in this one shot: Friends, but know of one anothers feelings.

Jill was curled up on her small couch, reading a book, trying to just relax for the night, which it's felt like forever since she's been able to do so.

Ever since the Raccoon City incident, she hasn't been the same. Everything has felt so off. Jill wonders how it would've been if she just would've left with Chris to Europe.

She highly regrets the decision of staying back in Raccoon. She could've been with him, taking down Umbrella. All she hopes is that Chris is safe, along with Barry. Barry is currently resided in Canada so he should be alright... At least she prays for that.

She had been feeling very off lately. Sometimes, she'll get super hot and feel as though she'll pass out, or super cold and will shake uncontrollably.

So, the sudden heat Jill felt made her sigh with annoyance. This new apartment wasn't for the weak. It was pretty cheap so she isn't surprised by how the heating system works. Well, she likes to blame it on the heat in the apartment itself.

Walking towards the smaller shaped window, Jill slid it open, immediately feeling the cool winter breeze hit her skin, goosebumps forming immediately.

"Jesus, it's freezing." Jill whispered to herself, rubbing her arms a bit before gently sitting back down, picking her book right back up.

Jill has always been a book worm. Back in Raccoon, she had a whole bookshelves worth. Now, it's all lost, in the destruction of it all.

Not wanting to dwell on the past, she tries to forget it all. The Raccoon City event was a tragedy and will never be able to be forgotten, especially by those who experienced is first hand. Jill was one of those people.

It's also very late at night, Jill doesn't tend to stay up past ten or so but tonight is an exception.

Well, an exception until she becomes tired, as always around this time.

A big yawn came from Jill, her eyes feeling more and more droopy the more she read. It's not that she was bored, she was just utterly exhausted.

Jill's dealt with sleeping problems since before the incident. It goes back to the Arklay tragedy. The trauma that was induced to her was very effective. Ever since, she's had insomnia of sorts.

Making the decision to continue reading, she decided to read one last chapter. The book she is reading is called, "The Shining." It's a classic and one of her personal favorites, especially the movie. Although, Jill's always stuck to the saying, "The books are always better than the movie adaptations." She highly agrees with that statement, she always has.

The more and more she read, the harder it got. Reading while being sleepy is difficult. Especially for Jill, she's always had eye problems. Which is why it had always been so surprising to her that she even made it into the force, you need very good, to almost perfect eye sight for a job that is so hands on like hers is... Was...

After finishing the chapter, Jill let out a soft noise, laying back onto the couch, her head on the arm of it. She was now just staring up at the ceiling fan, and how it spun in an infinite loop.
