cora woke up in a very strange room, one that she had never recognized, one that seemed too nice and put together for todays world. there was a study table in the corner, a small box tv, a record player, and a small bed that was surprisingly comfortable. over the music that was coming from the record player, there were voices outside the door. cora quietly stood up and walked over to listen in on the conversation. "do you think she's awake yet?" a woman voice asked.

"i hope so. it's been days," another one said. days? cora had been here, laying down, for days? "what did dwight inject her with?" inject? she was drugged? before cora could go back to the bed, one of the girls opened the door. "oh."

"where am i?" cora asked.

"you're at the sanctuary," a third girl informed her.

"the sanctuary? what the-"

"do you want any water or food?" a girl interrupted her. "you've been out for days."

"no," cora said sternly. "i need to get out of here."

"that's not going to happen," a man's voice said. a blonde guy with half his face scarred stepped out from behind the three girls. "negan needs to see you."

"negan?" cora asked. if it's the same negan who brutally murdered glenn and abraham in front of her eyes. "fuck no." the man looked amused while the three girls had matching scared looks on their face.

"that's not an option," the man said to her. "you are either going to come with me voluntarily or kicking and screaming. it's your choice."

before she could respond, one of the girls leaned into cora's ear and said "just go. the more willing you are the easier the stay will be. trust me." the girl pulled back and cora took a deep breath.

"fine," she told the man. for the first time since she woke up, cora looked down at herself. she was wearing a black, knee length dress and black ballet flats. before she could question it, the man drug her out of the room. "let go of me." the guy let go of her and led the way to negan.

the two arrived to a fancier looking door that cora had presumed was negan's bedroom. for the first time since waking up, cora was scared. she had no idea what would happen when the blonde man left her all alone with negan. in his bedroom.

the man knocked on the door three times before a voice cora recognized as negan said, "bring her in, dwight." dwight looked down to cora before pushing the door open and lightly shoving cora in.

cora took in the big bedroom with dark furniture before landing on the couch began was sitting at. more specifically who was sitting across from him. "carl," cora breathed out. she tried rushing to him out of instinct before negan picked up his bat, lucille, and stopped cora from going any further.

"ah ah ah, not so fast," he said in a menacing tone. "no talking." negan sat up and gestured toward the couch he was previously sitting at, wanting cora to sit. she followed his orders and slowly sat down as negan walked to the tray of alcohol that was sitting in the corner of the room.

"are you okay?" carl mouthed to cora.

"dont worry about me," she mouthed back. it hurt cora seeing carl here, like this. negan must've forced him to take his eye bandage off because carl would never willingly do that.

"you're eye," carl mouthed again, lowly pointing to coras face. she didn't even think about what she looked life, probably rough. now that carl pointed it out, there was an underlying hum of pain over her eye.

there was a knock at the door. "come in," negan said. cora looked back at the door and saw the last person she wanted to see. dan

"you son of a-"

"what did i say about talking," negan said, interrupting her. cora bit her lip to prevent anything coming out unwillingly. "take the boy back to cora's room. i'll get him when i'm ready," he said to dan. dan nodded once before walking to carl, yanking him off the couch. "now that we are alone, we can get to know each other." negan say down opposite of cora where carl was sitting moments ago.

"there's no need," cora said to him. "i know all i need to know about you."

negan seemed to find this amusing as he laughed loudly. "and what would that be?"

"you are a narcissistic douchebag who can only find happiness when hurting others," cora said. there was so much kore she wanted to say but one look at 'lucille' made her stay silent.

"now that's funny," negan said.

"okay," cora said before he could continue talking. "how would you describe yourself then, negan." cora leaned back into the couch to try and come off as calm when she could feel herself shaking with fear.

"oh," negan drawled in a sing-song voice. "i like you. i would describe myself as a caring leader for every person in this sanctuary. your friend rick the dick killed many of my people. good men and women that have families here."

"those so called 'good men and women' raided our pantries, our arsenal, our homes and left us with nothing to defend ourselves from the walkers. if that's what you think good people do, i would love to hear your definition of bad," cora rebuttled. the more negan talked the more that scared feeling deep in cora's bones became rage.

"i would love to do nothing more than stay in this room with you to explain what i think 'bad' is," negan smirked. "but we are behind schedule."

"schedule for what?"

"you, me, and the boy are going on a little road trip."
