The Guardian

Umm... Elle Nita groaned the last remnants of her dream chased away by the delicious soothing scent of coffee. The dream she had, it was a weird dream, something about being attacked by vampires and all those crap. Becoming fully awake she was aware of the smell of clean linen, expensive male cologne and white satin sheets that wasn't hers. She was in a stranger's bed, naked. She tried to remember how she got there but she couldn't. She must have been wasted last night because the last thing she remember was when she was at work dancing. Well, she was naked, in a most likely man's bed it wouldn't take a genius to figure out what went down last night.

Waking up in a stranger's bed wasn't anything new for Elle Nita. Normally, she would sneak out before the stranger wake but this time he was already up and about. It sounded like he was in the kitchen.

Thee Elle Nita (aka fantasy Ell, her club name) never hang around after a one night stand. She got up from the bed and look around frantically for her clothes but she couldn't find them.

"Fucking hell." She muttered then grabbed the white sheet from the bed and wrapped it around her a few times. As quiet as she could she creeped from the bedroom to the front. Clenching her teeth tightly she turned the door knob as slowly as possible to avoid making any sound. Once she was out the door she ran in the opposite direction. To her amazement her apartment was almost adjacent the strangers'. In quick strides she walked to her apartment holding up the sheet that was loosely wrapped around her.

Rick was in the kitchen when he heard Elle Nita attempting to sneak out of the house silently. He had to smile. Pity she didn't know he could hear clearly what was going on in the neighbours' house five blocks away. Looking through the window outside he saw her wrapped in his sheet, sprinting across the lawn and his smile widened. He watched her as she went into her apartment. As he looked away his phone began to buzz. He didn't have to look at the caller's ID to know who was calling. It was the Queen. Neither did he have to answer to know what she was calling about. But, he would've been a lunatic not to answer her call.

"Your highness." He said in his most docile voice knowing how much it annoys her.

"Don't your highness me." The queen voice was stern. "What did I hear you've been doing Rodrick Norton?"

"I had no choice. It had to try something and beside she survived."

"That is not the point, you know the rules and you went right ahead and disobeyed. Never you do something like this again do you understand me?"

"Yes, your highness, I completely understand."

"So tell me who is she. Her name is Elle Nita Quinn, was Elle Nita Leviticus before..."

"What?" The Queen stopped him from finishing what he was saying.

"Elle Nita Leviticus." The other line became completely silent and he wondered what was wrong.

"Continue." She said in her usual officious tone.

"Has no family, and lives here in Burton City."

"Well, you have been promoted to Guardian. You will protect her and teach her about who she is now."

"But I am here on a mission I have no time to babysit anyone."

"You should have thought of that before, shouldn't you?" He could hear the smile in her voice. The call ended and he sighed. Why she always gave him a hard time was beyond him. Frankly, she scares him (in a good way that is). He knew what she was capable of and she was the last person's nerves he would like to get on.

So I'm now a guardian. How does one go about telling someone there an immortal who sustains on other immortals' blood? Rick asked himself. She will be going through a lot of changes, damn it would be like puberty all over again.
