We were on our way home. Aidan was telling us how great and amazing his first day had been. I was dying of anger.

Ryan looked at me and look like he wanted to laugh, he was reveling in seeing me angry. I just looked at him, wanting to kill him too.

—I'm sorry, I forgot to ask how you guys did —Aidan said very kindly.

—Good.

—Great. I hung out with some guys from the basketball team today. Oh, and I talked to ___ too.

Lucky me, everyone else had been blown away, except me.

There was a small moment where silence abounded, but I still felt very uncomfortable.

—¿___? —Aidan asked shyly.

—What?

—Is everything all right? You look grumpy.

Ryan guffawed.

—But don't you see, bro? She's jealous.

Aidan winced and I think I even saw him blush. I turned red too, but from the anger it gave me.

—Eh...

—I'm not jealous of anyone, I can assure you. I'm just a little frustrated that my best friend spent all day with Aidan. She ditched me.

—I was under the assumption that girls are happy when their friends are with a guy.

—Yeah, but that's not the case, because she did it without telling me. She forgot about me, as if I was replaceable —and I crossed my arms like a little girl. I immediately put them at my sides, thinking I had made a fool of myself.

Ryan didn't stop smiling at any point. Mocking bastard.

—So you're saying you feel he's taking your place?

—Yes, Ryan, that's what I said.

—And why didn't you say it like that, directly? With your speech several people looked at us funny.

I laughed and Ryan joined me in it.

—If it really bothers you, I should tell her not to come to your house anymore.

—What?!

-Oh, Ryan, you almost deafened me.

—You're going so fast. And I thought I was the most gallan.

After that, we got home and we all got lost in our rooms. I didn't want to have lunch, so I didn't see anyone for a few hours.

I decided to do my homework early, which impressed even me. I was listening to music from my cell phone, until I got a notification. It was from Astrid.

''Hey.''

I was still kind of annoyed, but I thought she was going to apologize or something. So I answered something simple...

''What? Now you're talking to me, when you were with your Aidy all day?''

I was beginning to think I sounded like a jealous friend. So scary.

''Answer me'' I wrote in another message.

''I was just writing to ask you what dress I should wear to see Aidan. What's wrong? Ever since I saw you at recess you've been acting weird. If you want when I get home we'll talk.''

''Forget it''

''Okay?'' She answered.

I didn't know what was happening to me. I mean, yes, she didn't speak to me for most of the day but that was no reason to hate her either. And I felt the same way about Aidan. Maybe I felt betrayed, but by whom?

—Is there a dinner today?

—Oh, shit. You scared me —I whispered as I saw Ryan standing by the door frame—. Why do you say that?

—Because Aidan is forcing me to wear a suit.

—Bullshit, I just told you to wear presentable clothes! —shrieked a voice in the hallway. Ryan rolled his eyes.

—Well, no, I didn't know.

—Look, it's not that special, but I'd appreciate it if you'd behave.

-I behave, but I don't put myself in a suit. I told you, Aidan —Ryan repeated.

—It's not mandatory!

And between shouting and shouting, they ended up leaving my room.

[...]

—And why are you all so handsome? —my dad looked at us.

The twins were dressed very formal, although Ryan didn't like it at all. And I was wearing the same color dress as Lauren.

—It's just that Aidan invited his girlfriend to dinner —Lauren said and Aidan blushed.

—Then I'm going to change.

Meanwhile, I helped Lauren with the food.

—I feel happy, honey.

—Why?

—Because I'm going to be introduced to someone. My children have always had a lot of confidence in me, but in the context of love they are very reserved.

—Yes, that's how most of us children are.

—No, ___, this is different. Ryan has had a lot of girls, because they've never been his girlfriends. He's like that. But Aidan, he's more serious, more committed.

I felt the pride in her voice.

We finished serving the lasagna and went back to the others.
