Meg woke up the next morning to banging on her door. She groaned as she threw off her blankets, standing up to crack her back
"What?" Meg yelled, rolling her eyes at the loud noise.
Annalise cracked open the door, peeking her head inside. "Hey, Meg," she drew out awkwardly.
"Annalise, I'm not in the mood. You totally sold me out! And, none of what happened yesterday was even my fault!" Meg yelled.
"Look, I'm sorry! It's just that, if mom and dad knew it was my fault, I would've been grounded for life! And, they like you more than me," Annalise explained, giving Meg a solemn expression.
Meg sighed. "It's fine, Annalise. I just don't know what I'm gonna tell my supervisor. I'm in the middle of an important experiment that could change humanity, and now I'm banned from my internship for three weeks!" she ranted, shaking her head as she paced around her room.
"What? Mom and Dad banned you from your internship? That's totally unfair!" Annalise yelled.
"I know! And guess whose fault that is," Meg shot back, rifling through her walk-in closet.
Annalise hung her head. "I know, Carmie. I'm sorry I threw you under the bus like I did. It wasn't cool of me. I'll go talk to Mom and Dad and explain everything."
"No, Annalise, it's fine-" Meg attempted to tell Annalise, who already ran out the door. Meg sighed in defeat, closing her door and changing into her school clothes.
When Meg walked down the stairs that morning, she saw Annalise sitting at their dining room table with their parents standing behind her.
"Hey, guys. What's up?" Meg asked tentatively, sitting in the chair across from her sister.
"Margie, your sister told us what happened last night," Bethany told Meg.
Meg tilted her head in confusion. "Ok?" she questioned.
"We're sorry we treated you the way we did. We understand the incident wasn't your fault," Paul explained.
"So, we reconsidered your punishment. Now, you are grounded for a week. No car, no internship, only for one week," Bethany said.
Paul held his hand up when Meg opened her mouth to protest. "You still did sneak your sister to a party on a school night."
"Ok, fine. But just for a week?" Meg clarified.
Bethany and Paul nodded as Meg smiled.

Adam, Bree, and Chase weren't in school that day, which confused Meg, but she brushed it off, thankful she wouldn't have to deal with Chase anymore.
When Meg arrived at school the next morning, she parked her now-dented car in her usual parking spot and kicked Annalise out of her car as usual.
She kept her head down to avoid confused stares as she made her way inside the building. She headed to her locker and began to switch out her textbooks when she heard a "Hi, Meg!" from behind her.
Meg whipped her head around. "Bree! You're back!"
Bree chuckled. "Yep, I just needed a day off," she responded, rocking back and forth on her feet.
Meg gave her a confused look as she shut her locker, turning her head down.
"What's wrong, you seem kinda upset," Bree questioned, leaning against the lockers, only to slip and fall over.
"My parents found out about the party and the car, so now I'm grounded for a week."
"What's 'grounded'?" Bree asked.
