Serena's POV:
"So have you decided what to wear for the part tonight yet?" Alyssa asked excitedly over the phone.
"Actually, yes. But you won't get to know until we meet tonight to get ready." I teased.
I could sense her curiosity all the way through the phone. "But Serena, you saw my dress, this is totally unfair!"
"Seems complete opposite to me though." I replied coolly.
Alyssa huffed. "Anyways, i have to get packing now, meet you in a couple of hours!"
"See you." I said before hanging up.
The name is Serena Bloom, your typical 18-year-old teenager living in the heart of Minnesota along with my parents. I go to the Southwest Highschool, where I met my bestfriend, or shall i say soul-sister, Alyssa Piers. Alyssa and I have grown really close since we first met in kindergarten, and we practically live together as I am always at her place when she is not as mine.
Tonight, is the school's prom party. Just the thought of that makes me nervous. Although I am considered one of the populars in Southwest, my self-esteem and confidence always drop to zero in the cases where they should be at full blast. Luckily, Alyssa is here to help me get ready, or actually we both would be helping each other as we both have different jobs, so we complete each other. Aly is an expert in makeup, she has loads of that stuff, and by loads i mean enough makeup to pamper a neighborhood, while I use my imagination and fashion sense to do hairstyles. So here I am waiting for Aly to arrive, so we can get working on the masterpieces we call ourselves.

"Took you long enough" I said to Aly as I opened the door.
"I thought people said hello when they opened doors." Alyssa said sarcastically. Oh I forgot to mention, Alyssa and I communicate with each other using a language called sarcasm. We talk that fluently if I must say.
"You still didnt show me your dress by the way." Aly said while raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah, right. C'mon to my room and I'll get it revealed." I said while winking.
"I cant wait." She squealed.
I showed her the dress I got yesterday during my shopping spree. It was a halter-neck, hot pink with a silver belt in the middle part dress that reached just above my knees. It was the first one that grasped my attention the moment I went into the store, and thats why I bought it. Not that I am an attention seeker or anything, but I like to be unique.
"Oh my Gosh this is so pretty. It is just typical Serena." she commented.
She put her teal, floor length dress that had lace sleeves and a revealing back next to mine on the bed. Alyssa was the complete opposite of me. She preferred elegance in simplicity, something that she masters doing.
"We dont have enough time, it is already 4 and we should be ready by 6:30." I said while rushing her upstairs.
"Ooooohhh then, lets get those faces painted then." She said.
"Sit down here, missy." Alyssa ordered.
"Ok, MOM." I replied sarcastically.
She smacked me on the arm playfully before starting to work on my face. She applied a little of foundation first, then put some pink blusher on my cheekbones. She worked on my eyes by adding thick black eyeliner and decorated it with a little of pink eyeshadow. She finished off by adding a cute shade of pink that wasn't considerred irritating more than complementing to the dress color.
Her makeup was her traditional thin line of eyeliner along with a little bit of silver eyeshadow, and some red lipstick matching light shade of red blusher she applied. I must say we look fascinating.
I played with her red hair a little wondering what to do with it until I decided I'd braid it into a messy fishtail braid. When I have finished, I put some little silver bows on both sides of her haid so it puts a cute touch to it. My brown hair was curled and left to flow freely on my back.
"Wow. We did a really good job didn't we?" Alyssa said.
"We sure did." I said while looking at her.
We stared into the mirror for a little more until Aly had to ruin the moment by reminding me that I still didnt have my dress on. So as a result to that, I was pushed into the bathroom where my dress was hanged by Aly waiting for me to wear it.

After I put my dress on and Aly did the same, I put on my strappy silver heels and she put on her red pumps. It was 6 and we were both ready and waiting for the limo to arrive. Yes, limo. We don't have dates to prom, we both are going together. It's not that no one asked us, but I was in no mood for guys and rumors after my last relationship. I haven't had a boyfriend in like 5 months if I remember, but Aly had several relationships since then.
We waited for another 15 minutes until we heared the beeping of the horn in front of my house. My mom took a cute picture of us two before we kissed her goodbye and rode the car to school.
______________________________
The car ride was long and tempting. My nerves were everywhere. Aly wasn't any different, although she tried not to show it. We tried to soothe ourselves by listening to some soft music and taking deep breathes. It didnt make the case any better.
At last, we saw the school gate, and I could swear I can hear the music all the way to the car. We both left the car and walked gracefully to the gate.
"Ready?" Aly asked.
"As ready as I'll ever be." I smiled.
I opened the door, not realizing that it would be the best AND worst day of my life.
