Serena's POV:
The place was literally beautiful. Bright lights everywhere, dancing girls and guys, loud music, a well-decorated stage, the whole thing was breathtaking. I zoned out and just stood there admiring the whole place, until Alyssa nudged me. I then realized that the eyes of all Southwest's seniors were glued on me. Oh wait, I'm Serena Bloom the popular girl, of course they would be looking at me. I heard lots of comments from all of them.
"Wow, she never fails to look beautiful." some girl said.
"Hey, there hottie." another guy whistled.
"I like her dress so much." a girl whispered to another.
"Oh, what an attention seeker. She stands there pretending that she is admiring the place when all she wants is attention, attention, attention." Elena said smirking.
"Says the girl that paints her face with makeup thinking she looks pretty and has slept with half of the school's boys, huh." I smirked back.
Meet Elena, another one of the school populars. She is the rich, daddy's girl type who gets what she wishes at any time she wants. She is typically a walking coloring book that sometimes I feel pity for her face due to the tons of makeup she applies. Her clothes were nothing but revealing. Her life depends on bullying other people at school just to be the center of attention.
All of the students stood there in shock looking at her, but all she did was stomp away with some guy that she will probably sleep with tonight and pretend she doesnt know tomorrow. They all then continued what they were doing and I walked off with Aly to the snack bar.
"I cant believe her. Does she really think she is pretty?" Aly said disgusted.
"Just ignore her. You know Elena, she only wants all the eyes to be on her." I replied.
"I am afraid of what this party still has to bring, to be honest." Aly said.
"Forget about it, just live the moment." I said before winking.
We stood there for a while before the principal, Mr. Johnson, stood on the stage and was preparing to say something.
He cleared his throat and started talking "Good evening boys and girls, I hope you all are enjoying the party." All of the students cheered and Mr. Johnson smiled back.
"Thats really good to hear. So, as Southwest is one of the most popular schools in Minnesota, we always seek to be different and unique. Tonight, this prom party will be nothing but energetic and full of action. As a matter of change, we will randomly choose 2 pupils, a boy and girl, using the spotlights above," he said pointing at the spotlights hanging from the ceiling. "whether their voices are good or not, to do a duet in front of the whole school, using a song of their choice In 5 minutes, there would be a boy and girl here, testing their vocal in front of each other. Have a great night everybody!" He said as he left. The whole school hollered and cheered. I was afraid it would be me to be honest. I knew I had a good voice, but never told anybody. Not mom, not dad, not Alyssa. NOBODY, though everybody will know in a matter of minutes, if I was the oh-so-lucky girl that would be chosen.
"I am so excited to see who it is!!" Alyssa squealed next to me, breaking me free from my little world.
"What if it was one of us?" I wondered loudly.
"The whole school would turn deaf if they heard my voice. I don't know about you, I've never heard you sing to judge." She looked at me curiously.
"Oh you don't want to." I said staring into outerspace.
"And the chosen students are.." I heard someone say.
"Zayn Malik and .." I saw the spotlight rest on some boy i didnt know.
