December 15, 1991

I felt the temperature rise and I could finally feel my toes again. It was still very cold.
I was shaking uncontrollably, noticing every small detail that changed in the room.

I saw the winter soldier but he kind of looked used to it. He was shaking way less and wasn't panicking, unlike me.

A few hours later...

I sat in some kind of office still shaking.
„- but you can call me Pierce. I heard from a friend of mine that you failed your last mission. Now, unlike him, I give second chances." He stood up and walked closer to us.

„This is your only chance to prove yourselves. If you fail again, it's over. You will lead a slow and painful death."

I kept a straight face with no emotion just like they taught us.

I tried my best to hide my confusion as I scanned the file of our target; Howard Stark.

Did we really have to do this again? Couldn't he have selected a different target for us, at the very least?

According to this file, he's supposed to be on the road at around 1 A.M., carrying important stuff.

The assignment seemed straightforward: locate Stark, secure the serum, execute him, and return without witnesses.

We were taken back to our cells as we needed to customize to the changes.

Not much has changed, except that we had one smaller cell.

I crawled to a corner, just like I always do, and hugged myself. I didn't understand how the Winter Soldier wasn't cold because I was freezing. After a minute or two, a guard came over with our food.

The food changed too, we now got bland soup and a piece of bread. Yum.

When you spend hours in a cell, your mind starts to wander. But for Isabelle, her thoughts never strayed far. She couldn't even recall her name, I mean, how could she?

Her brain was turned into mush because of the countless times she'd been brainwashed.

But after trying her best, she did manage to remember a few things.
She now knew her name, but most importantly, she recalled James.

She hesitated to tell James, not sure if he would snitch or not.

"What's your name?" she decided to ask.

"You don't remember?" he asked back, disappointment in his voice.

"I do." she lightly smiled.

The pair got up and embraced each other. "Why didn't you say anything?"
