BEEP BEEP BEEP BE-Hyeon immediately shuts off her phone off, shoving her head underneath her soft pillow. With what she thought was a minute, turned out to be five as her phone started to go off again.
"I swear I clicked stop." She groans, making sure to press the correct button this time.
Hyeon sits up in her bed, letting her hair dangle in front of her eyes as she tries to force herself to get out of bed completely.
Glancing at the time, she notices it's 9:12 AM, causing her to panic as she has 18 minutes to meet her sister.
"Shit!" Hyeon throws her blanket to the side of her, almost tripping over it.
She threw on the first clothes she saw inside of her closet, it being a pair of loose jeans along with a baggy t-shirt. "I'ts probably going to be cold." She ponders, grabbing the black jacket with hesitation.
In 10 minutes, she's out the door with fresh clothing, brushed hair, and brushed teeth. "Alright, 8 minutes. Let's go." She hurries to lock her front door, almost missing to grab the bookbag of her math material she has to cover. "Bye, Mom!" She yelled, not hearing a response.
Hyeon sighs, "That would've been bad," she throws the bag over her should, "hopefully she won't mind me being a few minutes late."
As Hyeon makes her way into the small town, she notices the lack of vehicles and smiling faces as she's grown used to seeing that during this hour.
She shrugs the dark thoughts away, continuing her rushed journey with both hands holding onto the straps of the bag.
While she was seemed to be distracted by the quiet scenery, she was slow to notice her arrival to her sisters salon.
She tugs the door to open it, but fails as it was still locked.
"Weird, I'm even a couple minutes late." Hyeon scratches her head, not sure what to do. She reaches for her phone, deciding to call her sister. Before she can even hear a ring, it goes straight to voicemail.
"What even am I suppose to do? I need help with this math." She pouts, looking into the sky as if it can do anything to help her. The next person she can think to call is Yunjin, but to her luck she doesn't answer either.
She turns back around, only to hear groaning sounds in the distance. Curiosity peaks inside of her as she walks closer to where the sound was coming from.
"Hello?" Hyeon let's out a small question with caution laced in her voice.
She heard the groans more clearly, picking up her pace to find the source of the moaning.
Before she could turn the corner, she was pulled back into the alley with a small hand covering her mouth.
"What the fuck!" Hyeon tries to mutter, but fails due to the coverage. She looks at the culprit with a familiar face as it turns out to her friend, Yunjin. "Be quiet." Yunjin whispers into Hyeon's ear, making sure she fully understood what she said before letting go.
Hyeon slowly nods her head, not moving a muscle as Yunjin was pressed close to Hyeon to be more hidden. "What? Why? When?" Hyeon can't make out any sentences as she is filled with confusion.
The groanings were gradually fading away as Yunjin pulled Hyeon along to a more secluded area.
"What's going on? Why are you being so secretive?" Hyeon can't help but feel her heart pounding inside her chest, worry bubbling into her stomach.
"We're going to your place, packing up your stuff, and getting the hell out of here." Yunjin states with a serious tone. "What? I cant just leave without knowing where my sister and mother are? We have to find them!" Hyeon gets inside the vehicle nonetheless as Yunjin speeds off to her friends house.
"I understand, Hyeon, but they would want you to be safe." "I don't understand, this is all happening too fast. What are you even talking about?" Hyeon tangles her fingers into her hair, looking everywhere but at her female friend.
"I can't even explain it if I wanted to. They're literally dead people walking. I can see their brain, literally." Anyone could hear the shaking in Yunjin's voice, she was just as anxious as Hyeon.
"Are you sure it's not a prank? That's not even possible." Hyeon notices they finally reach her house, Yunjin doesn't even think to stop the car completely as she already stole the key to get inside the small home.
As soon as Hyeon steps inside the building, Yunjin is already packing up food. "Go pack your clothes, I'm gonna need to borrow some too." Yunjin says, not sparing a glance to the bothered girl as her first priority was to gather nonperishable food.
Even though Hyeon was confused, she still followed orders.
Within 4 minutes, Hyeon was done as she felt compelled to hurry due to the adrenaline pumping inside of her veins.
"Good, you're done." "Where are we even going?" "Not a clue." Yunjin says, pushing Hyeon to match her speed to get inside the running car. "Good thing I got gas."
"Yunjin, I can't leave my family." Hyeon gathered the courage to finally look into Yunjin's eyes as she was worried for her response as she was already stressed as it is.
"I know, I know. I promise we will find them eventually. When have you seen your mother last?" "A day ago, she didn't come home last night." Yunjin's eyes softened, patting the girls head. "It'll be fine, we will meet up eventually, okay? Just stay by my side."
Hyeon took a deep breath in, holding it a bit before exhaling. "I'll trust you, just don't leave me." "I wouldn't leave you, you're my best friend. Hell, basically my sister." Yunjin tries to let out a laugh, but it's more of a cough of air as the tension didn't cease to fall.
"Let's go." Hyeon didnt realize it, but tears started to fall down her eyes slowly. Before Yunjin could notice, she lifted her sleeve to wipe them away, and blink back the rest.
