Present
Beep!
Hey, Taehyun...
We haven't been able to
get in touch with you. We're all worried about you,
especially mom.Please call.
Beep.
The room quieted as the record stopped. Taehyun frowned, bothered by the repeated haunting call. Stress etched across his face upon hearing the recorded voice of a woman. Lately, he had been grappling with a multitude of problems, especially stemming from his unforgettable past.
Seated in his room, a painful memory replayed in his mind.
I'm sorry, Mr. Kang, but your condition has worsened, and...
Lab results indicate that you are...
No longer capable of conceiving a child.
The doctor's words echoed in his mind, leading him to turn to alcohol for comfort. Gripping the glass in his hand, he leaned forward, resting his arms on his knees when-
"Split up?"
Another memory flashed in his mind, one that shattered the anticipation of his most cherished moment.
"I'm sorry, Taehyun."
"I really am."
A gentle voice, belonging to the woman who broke him into pieces, echoed once more. These memories caught Taehyun off guard. Unintentionally, he released the glass he held, and it shattered, the pieces scattering on the red floor mat.
With a condition like this....
I'm sure you think I'm worthless too.
Closing his eyes to stave off further pain, he heard another voice, a calm and deep one.
"You're a good person."
"Don't let anyone make you feel like you're worthless."
An image of a sweet, blushing omega looking at him with genuine affection flashed in his thoughts. The boy's smiles were irresistibly tempting, and those cute, soft features made Taehyun yearn to see them every day.
"Ugh... it's morning already," he uttered softly. Taehyun awoke topless, to the sun's light filling his spacious room.
"I can't believe this... Remembering all that in a dream of all things."
