Enmity: A tale of Love and Despair ( A HP Fanfiction)

Chapter 1( A New Beginning )

It has been ten years since the demise of Voldemort.

Jasmine Lily Potter laid asleep in her bedroom in the house she shared with her Uncle Sev. She shrugged as a hand gently shook her to wake her up. " Can't you let me sleep a little longer please, Uncle Sev?" Jasmine muttered groggily. "Jasmine, it's your birthday and as much as I hate this, Remus is downstairs waiting for you." " Really! Moony came!" Jasmine exclaimed with excitement as she sat down on her bed. " Yes, 'Moony' came and he's waiting for you with your birthday gift. Hurry up and get ready." Severus said before he went down stairs.

Jasmine got off  her bed and quickly dressed up and headed downstairs. There he was, Remus 'Moony' Lupin waiting for her. She ran to him and gave him a hug. " Moony, you came!"  She exclaimed with joy. " Of course I came, I wouldn't miss the birthday of my precious Jasmine for the world. Here's your present." Remus said, handing Harriet a package wrapped in sparkly blue paper. Jasmine sat down on the couch and unwrapped her present. She was really surprised. "Uncle Sev, come and see what Moony got me! " She called out to Severus, who was in the kitchen setting the table up for breakfast. He came and took the book from Jasmine as she asked, "Uncle Sev, isn't it the DADA book for the first years at Hogwarts? " " It is, indeed. However, this is from when I was in school." Severus replied. " You mean, you, mum, dad and Moony– all of you studied this book when you were in your first year?" Jasmine wondered. "Yes. Now hurry or you'll be late for St. Mungo's. Remus, I suggest you have some breakfast and don't worry I won't poison you." Severus added, seeing the look of disbelief on Remus's face. They all went to the dining room and had their breakfast. After breakfast, Severus went to his quarters at Hogwarts using the Floo network while Remus and Jasmine apparated to St. Mungo's.

Remus showed Jasmine her parents' beds and left the room to give the family some privacy. Jasmine ran to her mum and dad's beds. She started to cry, clutching her mum's hand in hers, " Mum! Dad! You have know idea how much I miss you. I wish you'd wake up so that we could celebrate my birthday together. Please, wake up." As she continued to cry, she was startled by a sudden motion in her hands. " Mum? " She asked, uncertain about what was happening. To her surprise Lily seemed to blink. "Moony! Come here!" She called out to Remus. Worried if something happened to Jasmine, he barged in the room to find an excited Jasmine. " Moony, mum just blinked her eyes when I called her name. Watch –  Mum ! Dad ! " She called her mother and much to Remus's surprise, they seemed to blink. He immediately called for a healer to check if he was hallucinating. The healer came almost running. " What ... happened? " He asked, trying to catch his breath. Remus explained all that had happened to the healer while Jasmine continued to talk with her parents . The healer was quiet for a while  and then told them to wait outside while he performed some tests. 

About half an hour later, the healer came out and told them that Lily and James were awake at last and that they could meet them . Remus told Jasmine to go ahead while he discussed a few things with the healer. Jasmine  entered the room and saw her parents smiling at her. She ran to them and gave them a bear hug. James lifted her daughter up in the air and said," My, my, how you've grown up! Lily, for how long have we been sleeping? Is this that little girl that used to laugh every time I lifted her like this?" Mused James as Jasmine giggled. As soon as he put her down, she gave her mum another hug that said " I've really missed you" . Lily hugged her back as she replied, " We missed you too, love." After Jasmine finally released her mum, Lily asked, " Love, where's Harry?" 

"Who's Harry, mum?" Jasmine asked with a confused expression on her face. " Ha ha, very funny. Now where's your brother?" James asked seriously. " What brother? Mum, dad, what are you talking about?", Asked Jasmine. At that moment, Remus walked in. "Long time no see, Prongs." He said, hugging James. " Moony, what's this? Jasmine's  saying that she doesn't know who Harry is. What's going on?" James asked his friend. " There's a lot to be explained but right now we have to meet Dumbledore. I notified him that you guys are awake and he told all of us to meet him  in his office" Remus informed. "Come on, let's go." All of them followed Remus to the Front Desk of the hospital. Then using the Floo network, they reached at Dumbledore's Office at Hogwarts. Dumbledore had been there to receive them. "Hello James, hello Lily. It's been a long time since we've last met." Greeted Dumbledore. Then his eyes fell on Jasmine. "Hello Jasmine. You might not remember the last time you saw me. I am Professor Albus Dumbledore." Said Dumbledore, offering a hand to Jasmine to shake. " Hello, Professor Dumbledore. Nice to meet you." Said Jasmine, shaking his hand. "Now that we're done with the pleasantries, shall we proceed to our due discussion? " Asked Dumbledore. Lily and James nodded in response. They followed Dumbledore to his desk. Jasmine was ahead of them and  spotted Severus standing near Dumbledore's desk. She ran up to him and gave him a hug. Severus returned her hug as she told him, "Uncle Sev, Mum's awake again. You can finally apologize to her."  He released her and looked up at Lily and stared into her emerald green eyes and said," Lily, you are finally awake. I am really sorry for all that I have done — calling you the m-word,  being a death eater– all of it. I understand of you don't want want to be friends anymore, you know, considering James is your husband, but I really hope that you will forgive me." To his surprise and much to James's disgust, Lily hugged him and said, " Of course I'll forgive you, Sev! You took care of my daughter all these years just because she was my daughter, ignoring the fact that she was also James's daughter. You never hurt my daughter and she's so happy to have you. As am I. And about us being friends, I'm willing to give you another chance. Make sure you don't blow it."  " You'll never regret it, Lily." Severus beamed at her. Seeing this happy moment , Dumbledore smiled. Then all of them returned their attention to Dumbledore and sat down in front of his desk. Jasmine sat between her parents, holding their hands. " I believe I owe you some explanation." Dumbledore started. " Yes, yes you do, Albus. What's been going on while we've been asleep?!" James said irritatingly. "I think I'll start by introducing  Jasmine to Harry. I believe you are wondering who Harry is, aren't you, Jasmine? Dumbledore asked Jasmine. She nodded in response. " Well, Jasmine, Harry or Harry James Potter is your brother, your twin brother.  You see, after Voldemort lost his body when the Killing Curse bounced off you and hit him, you and your brother were separated for your own safety. While you've been living with Severus here, Harry has been  living with his aunt and uncle." Dumbledore said, when he was interrupted by Lily—  " You sent my son away to Petunia, knowing full well that she hates magic! Sev! Remus! Why didn't you do anything! Oh my son! Who knows how Petunia's been torturing him!" She started to cry as Jasmine tried to calm her mum down. "Mum, please calm down. Don't take so much stress right now, it isn't good for you!" She tried to plead. "Albus, where's Sirius? " James asked, already mad at Dumbledore for sending his son away to muggles. But instead of Dumbledore, it was Remus who answered them this  time  – " Sirius is at Azkaban, for giving up your location to Voldemort, and for Peter's murder." " What!" James exclaimed with shock, "Albus, Sirius is innocent. He wasn't our Secret Keeper." Then he explained all that had happened. "Well, then I'll have to go to the Ministry right now. Meanwhile, I suggest you refrain from going to the Dursleys' residence for now, at least not until I tell you to. And Jasmine, you're going to have to live with Severus for a little longer, at least until your parents finish the paperwork for your guardianship and house is being recovered. I will walk you to the exit and then I will leave for the Ministry " Dumbledore said, standing up. Then he walked them to the gates from where he apparated to the Ministry. From there, Jasmine and Severus apparated to their house while Lily, James and Remus apparated to the Potter Manor. 

After Jasmine and Severus got to their house, Severus was just about to go to his room for washing up, when he noticed that Jasmine was looking sad. " What's the matter, Jasmine? Why are you sad? It's your birthday! I thought you were happy about your parents coming back. " Severus asked, kneeling to match her height. "It's not that, I am happy about my parents." Jasmine replied with a long face, " It's just that after mum and dad fix up our house, I'm never going to see you except for classes at Hogwarts. I'm really going to miss you."  Severus hugged her in response. Truth be told, he died want her to leave either. At first, he might have hated her just because she was James's daughter, but as time went on, he started to love her as if she was his daughter. " Let's see, for now, we're going to use all the time that we have left together in doing all your favourite things – brewing potions, teaching you new spells, tending to the magical herbs in our garden. Then, when you go away to your parents' house, I'll visit you there occasionally, you can come here if your parents agree and at Hogwarts, you can come to meet me in my quarters on weekends. How about that?" He asked, hoping that she'd be happy with this arrangement. " Thank you, Uncle Sev!" She hugged him again. She ran to her room and quickly washed up. After both of them were in their comfortable attires,  they went to the potions lab they had built together in the basement and started brewing a Calming Draught. Time went by without them noticing. Soon, it was time for Jasmine to leave with her mother. Lily came to pick Jasmine up from Severus's house. Jasmine was really sad about leaving, but she also wanted to see her parents. So she had no choice but to go back to the Potter manor.
