Chapter 18

Naomi"s point of view.

A sunny Thursday at Academic Giants School. For the first time, I couldn't concentrate on what the teacher taught. Mostly, I would have been jotting down important points and being focused like I am supposed to be but today, I wasn't in the right frame of mind to even study. This who chip thing was beating me up and Jeremy's news this morning didn't help. How came Gaston knows my name. Jeremy told me that Gaston asked about a girl called Naomi Brooks and that she goes to my school.

He said they denied knowing anyone like that but its only a matter of time before he finds me. I am also very concerned about Jeremy and Ricardo's relationship with him and how he could use them to find me. Who knows, they could turn their backs on me. I doubt Jeremy would but for Ricardo, its highly possible. Seeing that he has always hated me from the start, I won't put it past him.

I had my nails between my teeth, biting them as my eyes were focused on the white board, completely oblivious to anything the teacher was saying or had written on the board. I was just painting scenarios of how things could end up. "Naomi, Naomi, Naomi". I was taken out of my trance by the repetitive mention of my name.

"Are you ok?" Ashley questioned. Now I remembered that I had to tell Ashley about everything. "Ashley, I need to confess something", I said.

"Let me guess, you didn't listen to me and hacked into Gaston's system", she stole my words from me. I couldn't make eye contact with her without feeling bad. "How did you know?" I asked feeling completely awkward.

"I have some friends at Gaston's lab that keep me up to date with things going on there. Apparently, Gaston knows your face, was able to access the chip and obtain information about you. Its just a matter of time before he stricks", She sounded calm and I didn't expect that. I expected her to yell at me. I wanted her to infact so that I could feel worse for my actions. She rather sounded softer, more comprehending than I thought.

"I am sorry I didn't like to you. At the time, so many things were happening to me especially after I met Ricardo and I didn't know how to deal with them. I was so confused about everything that was going on I needed to know what was happening. And at the time I was had just confirmed that Ricardo and Jeremy were robots and when I try to ask them especially Ricardo for help he didn't want to help. Jeremy offered to help but I just needed to do it. That all led to me getting alert for my computer getting hacked and then I fainted and here I am. Finding out that I have a neurochip in my brain and an evil scientist is after me".

She took my hand and squeezed it gently. "I understand completely. I might be an Android but trust me, I care a lot about you. I am here for you if you need help going through this", her voice sounded so soothing. I felt so touched to hear someone or an Android say it. "How have you been a better person to me than most humans have", I responded. She chuckled lightly,"You humans are the smartest creature and the most wicked too. I am certain that humans would cause their own extinction".

I couldn't agree with her more. Humans have caused a lot more harm to the environment and to ourselves than good. We are too selfish to the point that its going to end our entire race. Just take Gaston for example, he has the power to create such innovative inventions to change the world but this is what he decides to do with his knowledge; use it for his selfish gains.

After class, Ashley and I went to the Science lab as planned. I needed to truly understand all this, especially now that I am involved. "I know an Android called Cody", Ashley brought up.

"Where do you know him from?" I enquired. "Cody and I were made in the same batch. We were so close our scientists thought we were in love or something. After I was taken to be sold, I never heard from him again", she revealed.

My lip curled upwards when my eyes caught sight of Benji coming down the hall with Angela's arm under his, walking like a couple. "Hey Benji".

  Angela's face morphed into a face of anger upon seeing me. I really don't get what her problem is. Why does she hate me so much? I don't recall doing anything at all to her. It must be because I am a hate magnet, whoever I meet hates me automatically.

   "Hey Naomi, you are going to the lab I see".

  I nodded my head. The hallway was busy and a bit noisy, people going up and down their activities. The four of us stood in the way, forcing people to go around us.

    "I would come too", he stated.

   Angela's eyebrows furrowed closer, her eyes seemed so unhappy by what Benji said. "Babe, we were supposed to go to the cafeteria together", she gave him a displeased expression. "I... know but this is very important", he pleaded with her, he turned to her and held on to her hand while he looked into her eyes.

   "Let me guess, this bitch needs your help", she jabbed her thumb at me. I rolled my eyes at her. She pointed her middle finger at me and flipped her short straight brunette hair.

   "Ignore her", Ashley whispered in my eye. I decided not to talk or fight back, I have better issues to deal with. I can't stay here and watch these two do their lovey dovey stuff. "I don't have time for this so I will meet you in the Science lab, that's if you decide to come", I said and grabbed Ashley's hand, dragging her with me. My phone vibrated in my bag.

  I removed it from my back and pulled my phone out. Ashley stared at me with curiosity, waiting for me to tell her what its all about. Oh it is a post on Campus Socials. I clicked on currently trending. A picture of Brianna and Ricardo popped up, making out passionately. The caption read,"Meet my new boyfriend Ricardo. To whom it may concern, he is taken so paws off".
