christmas lights

"Okay, a little to the left now," Olivia called out, watching Y/N on the ladder, holding the string of white Christmas lights. Y/N moved the lights slightly.

"Your other left!" Olivia raised her voice.

"Oops" Y/N mumbled, moving the string towards the other direction.

They'd been doing this for nearly an hour now and not even half of the lights were up. Olivia, being the perfectionist she was, was standing on the ground guiding Y/N where to hook the lights.

It was fun the first 10 minutes. Until Olivia kept pushing Y/N to move it in the smallest direction when she wasn't happy with how it looked. Honestly, it made no difference to Y/N and she was starting to get annoyed but she stayed silent and complied to keep her girlfriend happy.

It wasn't helping that Y/N hadn't even had her coffee yet and the weather was freezing. She just wanted to go inside and cuddle with Olivia.

"Is this fine?" Y/N said holding her arm still.

"Hmmm, no put it down a little"

Y/N moved her arm slightly down.

"No that's too far, go back up."

Y/N listened, moving the string less than an inch upwards.

"Okay that's good...but you've gone too far right again!"

Y/N grumbled, moving slightly to the left.

"That's perfect, love! Stay there."

Y/N hooked the string lights to the beam, sighing of relief. "Looks exactly the same to where I had it the first time" she mumbled to herself.

"What was that?" Olivia said, her voice stern.

"Nothing" Y/N replied hastily, grabbing the next part of the string and holding it up to the beam, "Is this okay, baby?"

"To the right."

Y/N held the string with her left arm now, her right arm sore, and her patience thin, "Alright, how about this?"

"Okay wait. Now that I'm looking at it, you need to move the last one a little bit down again."

"Olivia!" Y/N groaned.

She moved down the ladder, her eyebrows furrowed. She walked over to Olivia and turned to face the front of the house. She examined the placing of the lights so far.

"It looks perfectly fine!" she argued, frustrated at the amount of time and effort it took to put the lights up.

"No, stand over here, it looks crooked!"

"You know our neighbours are like all old retired couples, right? They probably can't even see well enough to notice the difference!"

"I notice it!"

The two bickered for a while, before Y/N finally grabbed the string lights, "You put it up then!" She shoved the lights lightly to Olivia's chest, "You'll see how annoying it is when I say 'go left, go down, go back up a little!'"

Olivia held the string lights, "I have to be down here to look at it though" she protested.

Y/N put her hands on Olivia's face staring into her eyes, "Babe, I love you, but this is annoying the fuck out of me."

Olivia chuckled slightly, her cheeks squished by Y/N's hands.

"I promise it will look good. I'll be a good guide. Now go up there" Y/N smiled, pushing her lightly towards the ladder.

Olivia climbed up the ladder, holding the string lights in her hand. She scanned the beam with her eyes, estimating the length of where to hook the next part. She held it up for Y/N to see, "How does this look?"

"Looks perfect!"

"Are you sure?"

"Yes" Y/N replied confidently.

Olivia hooked it to the beam and moved on the next part of the lights. While Olivia was fumbling with the string, Y/N's eyes couldn't help but wander.

They travelled from Olivia's head to her back to slightly downwards....

Now this was a good sight.

Y/N smiled, admiring Olivia's backside. She admired it a thousand times before, but she never saw it in this angle before.

"Is this okay?" Olivia called out, her attention on the beam in front of her.

Y/N shook her head, realising that she had gotten distracted. She looked up at the lights that Olivia was holding. It was slightly crooked.

"Umm, move it slightly up, babe."

Olivia lifted one leg higher on the ladder, lifting the lights with her hand. Y/N looked down again. This sight was even better.

"Yeah that's perfect!"

Olivia smiled, moving on to the next part of the lights. She held the string on the beam, "Good?"

Y/N quickly glanced back up at the lights. The placement was fine but she wanted to try something.

"Move it slightly to the right"

Olivia complied, moving her arm to the right. Y/N wasn't even looking at the lights anymore.

"Here?"

"No, go slightly down!"

Olivia moved one leg down on the ladder, Y/N smirking at the sight.

"Better?"

Y/N hummed in satisfaction, completely distracted. Olivia hooked it around the beam, then held onto the ladder, leaning back slightly to observe the placement of the lights.

"I don't know it feels kind of crooked to me. Don't you think?" she asked.

Y/N hummed, not even paying attention to Olivia's words. Olivia noticed something off and turned to face Y/N. She quickly realised what Y/N was doing and nearly threw the lights down at her, "Are you staring at my ass?"

Y/N looked up, feigning innocence, "What? No! I was just...there was something on your pants."

Olivia laughed, lifting her leg on the ladder, "It look's good at this angle, right?"

"Yeah, it really does..." Y/N admitted, smiling. Olivia shared a knowing look, smirking at Y/N.

Y/N gasped, putting the pieces together, "Oh my god, were you staring at my ass earlier too?"

Olivia laughed even louder, Y/N joining in, "I see what you were doing now. I can't blame you." Y/N admitted.

"Okay now let's hurry up and get this over with," Olivia turned back around, lifting the lights, "Is this okay?"

"Can you lift your leg up again?"

"Y/N," Olivia whined. "If we get this over with before lunch, you can admire my ass in our room!"

Y/N immediately straightened up, "Yup, that's perfect! Okay next one."

Olivia and Y/N managed to hang all the lights within 20 minutes, Y/N strongly resisting the temptation to get distracted. They stood back, admiring their work. Olivia placed her arm around Y/N's shoulder, Y/N's snaking around Olivia's waist.

"Look's great! Can't wait to see it at night." Olivia beamed.

"Yeah, our neighbours are gonna be so jealous."

They stood still, continuing to admire their house. Y/N's arm slowly slid down Olivia's back, "It's not lunch yet...." she whispered mischievously.

Olivia smirked, leaning in for a kiss. They kissed for a few moments before Olivia hurriedly walked back inside, dragging Y/N along.
