I can still remember the day, the image of my home planet, and all the people on it are still etched into my brain. I can see it as clearly as if it just happened yesterday. I remember how I was dragged away from my family and hurt and taken to earth. The way I cried and screamed until my throat was ragged and I was drained of energy so much to the point where I passed out from exhaustion. But then again every time I think of that day I smile, because I remember him, the defender of man.....the offering,Eli.10 years before...
The gently swaying of the tall grass surrounding me lulled me in to a false sense of security, a feeling of peace that I only got when I was out in nature. I stared up into the sky as I wallowed in my thought, as they ran aimlessly through my head. And I smiled because everything was perfect the sky was the most lovely shade of blue, a gradient of turquoise and light blue mixture. I let out a sigh of pleasure and closed my eyes and just enjoyed the sounds around me. The quiet howl of the aranthraraptors, the birds of my home planet, Mar. I also heard the croaking of a bunna, a frog like creature who swam about the waters that was at the bottom the field of which I laid. There was an abundance of other noises that I could name off the bat, but then there one sound; one of which I could not place. It was a gentle humming that came from the sky, as if the the universe decided to sing and was trying to lull us to sleep. I laughed to myself at the thought of the sky doing something like that and slowly drifted back off into that sense of peace I was enjoying, until my mind ran free, and brought me from my previous enjoyable state. When I finally relaxed and felt as if I could sleep, I heard my name. when I sat up and looked over the grass I heard it again, this time followed by a giggle. I knew at once it was my youngest sister azena, she was a splitting resemblance of me apart from the fact that I had my coming of age tattoos. The ones given to all teenagers who have reached the respectable age to finally be called an adult. But other that that we shared the same light blue skin, with short buzzed black hair and a smile that could stop wars. In our planet we were considered the most beautiful girls who ever lived. When I stood up, I called to my sister to let her know I was here , She looked at me and smiled as she ran over to envelope me into a ginormous bear hug before she finally spoke again. This time she spoke in a rushed high pitch voice, "Derathia, I have the most pleasant surprise for you!"I looked down at her and responded. "Oh yeah, well I'd love to see it." She pulled me along and we ran though the field, grinning all the way until we reached a small patch of trees. This is where she slowed down to a walking speed and started talking again."you remember earlier when mother asked me to go out and collect berries right," I nodded."well you see, I did collect berries but then I got bored and went of exploring, after all it's not often you come across a perfect day like today." She paused to make sure I was following, the continued."Well, as I was walking I came to this little clearing and I looked up at the sky, just soaking in its beauty, when I saw it." She let out the last part with a squeal of pure happiness, when I look at her clearly confused."saw what." I asked, she let out another squeal, before shouting"a gift, a gift to us from the queen of the universe; she must be really happy with us." I smiled down at her not wanting to ruin her happiness with the fact that the "queen of the universe" was just a fictional person, one used in bedtime stories to urge kids to be admirable people, because if they were, they were told good thing would happen to them. Now overflowing with curiosity I turned to her and asked how long until we get to this clearing, we had been walking for a good amount of time by now. She grabbed my hand and said we're almost there, before bursting into a sprint again and running us straight out of the trees and into a small clearing. She looked up into the sky and pointed, jumping up and down yelling there it is, isn't it the most beautiful thing you've ever seen. I looked at what she was pointing at and froze, I paled and stood in utter shock, realizing what that humming sound I heard from earlier. But before I could come to my senses to respond to my sister, who was now shaking my arm asking me what was wrong, I grabbed her tightly by the arm and ran, I ran faster that I ever thought possible to the nearest guard station which was planted every few miles around our cities limits. They were there to warn people if we ever were in danger, by another city, or simply a horde of dangerous animals. But never were we in this much danger, once I got to the guard station on the east side of the city by the courthouse and hospital which my eldest brother worked, I ran up to the side and called out the one dreaded word to the guard who had looked down to see what was wrong.
