"Sweetheart," Emma called out softly.

"Yes, Mommy?" Elizabeth replied, grabbing her school bag and dashing out of her room. She skidded to a stop near the entrance, where her mother stood waiting by the door.

"Honey, we're running late," Emma said, her voice tinged with urgency.

"I'm here now!" Elizabeth chimed slyly, a mischievous giggle escaping her lips. Emma narrowed her hazel eyes, instantly suspicious.

"What have you done, Eli?" she asked, arching a brow.

"Nothing, Mommy," Elizabeth replied, shaking her head with an exaggerated innocence.

Emma sighed, deciding not to push further. Grabbing her daughter's hand, she locked the door, and they made their way to the bus stop.

When the school bus arrived, Emma crouched down to kiss Elizabeth on the temple. "Be good, my little star. I'll see you later."

Elizabeth waved enthusiastically as she boarded the bus. Emma watched as it disappeared down the street before heading to work, her thoughts briefly lingering on how much her daughter meant to her.

At 27, Emma was the embodiment of elegance and resilience. Her milky-white skin glowed against her cascading blonde waves, and her dimples added a charming softness to her sharp beauty. A single mother to her seven-year-old daughter, she worked tirelessly as a general supervisor at a prestigious hotel. She often thought of her life as a balancing act-one that she performed with unwavering determination for Elizabeth's happiness.

Meanwhile, across the city...

Ethan Williams, one of New York's most powerful businessmen, sat in his expansive office overlooking the skyline. With sharp features, piercing eyes, and a tailored suit that fit him like a second skin, he exuded confidence. His reputation as a ladies' man often preceded him, but beneath the charm was a man consumed by ambition.

For Ethan, business wasn't just a game; it was his entire existence. Trillions of dollars and countless accolades couldn't quench his insatiable thirst for success. Yet, he now faced a peculiar obstacle: he needed to marry.

"Come in," Ethan said when a knock interrupted his thoughts.

A sleekly dressed woman entered. "Good morning, sir," she greeted.

"Morning, Serah. Have a seat," he said, motioning to the chair across from him.

Serah handed him an envelope containing profiles of potential brides. He skimmed through the papers dispassionately and set them aside.

"Thank you, Serah. I'll get back to you."

As she left, Ethan called in his secretary, Rose.

"What's my schedule today?" he asked without looking up from his phone.

"You have a doctor's appointment at 10 a.m. and a meeting with Mr. Wellington at noon," she replied.

"And tomorrow?"

"You're scheduled for a meeting at LA'VIDA Hotels at 9 a.m. and a flight to London later in the evening."

"Noted. You can leave now," he dismissed her with a wave.

Minutes later, Liam, Ethan's trusted advisor and COO, entered the office.

"Update," Ethan ordered, glancing at Liam.

Liam handed him another folder. "These are the top candidates. Take a look before deciding."

Ethan opened the folder and chuckled as he skimmed through the profiles.

"Kate, 22, a dancer. 'Looking for Mr. Right'? No, thanks." He flipped to the next page.

"Emma Richard, 27, single mother, seeking a contract marriage."

Ethan smirked. "That's it. She's the one."

"What? You haven't even checked the others!" Liam protested.

"I don't need to. She's practical, won't get attached, and wants the same thing I do-a contract." Ethan's tone was firm.

"Fine," Liam relented, dialing the agency. "Hello, this is Liam from Mr. Williams's office. Please arrange a meeting with Miss Emma Richard."

The Meeting

The next day, Ethan arrived at the agency in his signature style-stepping out of a sleek Rolls Royce in a custom designer suit. Heads turned as he strode into the lounge, exuding an air of authority.

"Good morning, Mr. Williams," the agency manager, Debra, greeted nervously. "Miss Richard will be here shortly."

Ethan nodded and took a seat, declining any refreshments.

Moments later, Emma entered. She wore a beige pencil skirt and a delicate white lace top, her brunette hair cascading over her shoulders. Her beauty was understated yet captivating, drawing Ethan's gaze instantly.

"Miss Richard, welcome," Debra said warmly. "Please, have a seat."

"Thank you, Mrs. Jackson. I hope I'm not too late," Emma said, her tone polite.

"Not at all. You're right on time."

Debra excused herself, leaving Ethan and Emma alone. For a moment, silence enveloped the room as they studied each other.

"You're not what I expected," Ethan said finally, his lips curving into a faint smile.

"Neither are you," Emma replied, her tone calm but sharp.

And so, their fates began to intertwine-a contract forged not out of love, but necessity, yet promising to alter their lives in ways neither could foresee.
