Ethan's POV
I picked up my phone to check my messages after it rang. It was a message from Magdalene, my ex-girlfriend. Thus, I perused the message.
Magdalene; Sugar boy, I'm home. Can't wait to see you.
Fuck! I did not anticipate this happening. I forgot about her. I am not sure how to explain the situation to my wife.
It is not Magdalene that worries me. As far as I know, she must leave as soon as I arrive home. But how should I tell Emma? Will she understand it? Will she react oppositely?
"Are you ok?" Emma asked.
I responded by showing my white teeth to her. "Yes, I am fine."
"You do not look well to me. But, if you say so." She shrugged and looked out the window at the busy street.
We should arrive home in another thirty minutes. I have got to think of something. Anything. I sighed, feeling nervous.
Liam had returned home. So is my legal team.
We arrived at the mansion. Zack opened the door, and I got out of the car. Before I could make my way to Emma's side. Magdalene dashed up to me.
Before she could get close enough to me. I pulled Emma close to my chest and kissed the top of her head. Magdalene paused, speechless. She scowled and glanced at my wife. Then she fixed her gaze on me.
"Ethan. Could you explain what is happening?" With her hands folded across her chest, she asked.
"Magdalene. Meet Emma Williams. My wife," I said, and I felt better.
Emma smiled, but Magdalene maintained her scowl. So I proceeded.
"Baby. This is Magdalene, my ex-girlfriend. Although we do not know why she is here," I told the truth, and I found peace.
"It is nice to meet you, Magdalene." Emma offered her hand for a handshake, but Magdalene refused. So Emma withdrew her hand.
"I will be in my room. Excuse me." She told me and left.
"I will be there soon," I told her.
She hobbled into the Mansion, and I felt bad for her. But I have to deal with the problem at hand.
Magdalene is not just any woman. She is stunning. She is tall, slim, blonde, and quite wealthy. She lives in L.A.
My closest friends believed I would marry her because she was more dedicated to me. But I am not in love with her enough to want to marry her.
Her family has high expectations of us. It is just that I never expected to marry again.
Liam suggested her as a candidate when I was looking for a contract wife, but I declined. I know how clingy she will get.
I had not seen her for thirty days. Last time I checked. She ended our relationship after discovering that I had been cheating on her.
"How could you? She choked and sniffled.
"You should have called before coming here. I am now married. I tolerated you only for nostalgic reasons. Please leave."
"So, you prefer her over me? And who exactly is she? Where is she from?"
I ignored her inquiry and called Zack.
"Please accompany Ms. Macaulay to the airport," I instructed Zack.
"All right, sir. I will prepare her luggage. Ms, shall we?" Zack asked.
"Ethan. You can not get rid of me so easily. I will be back, you bastard." She cried.
"The last time I checked. You broke up with me. So do not even start. I am married now. And I am pleased with my marriage. Please, go and don't come back." I warned and left immediately.
I exited the bathroom after taking my bath. I had changed into sweatpants.
I chose to go check on Emma. I would like to know what she is thinking. I do not want anything to come between us.
After slipping my foot into my white Nike slides, I left my bedroom and went to Emma's. I have to talk to her about sharing a room.
I knocked on her door. The door opened in a few seconds, and she greeted me with a stunning smile.
She looks stunning in her loose pants and tank top.
"May I come inside?"I politely asked."Sure. Please," She stepped aside, and I walked in. I walked straight to the bed, wanting to cuddle with her.
She joined me in bed after the door was shut. Although, she didn't climb in. She did, however, sit on the edge of the bed.
I adjusted myself and took a seat beside her. I guess I should clear the air.
"I apologize for what happened earlier. I did not expect her to show up like that. Believe me, she was in my past." I spoke truthfully. She cocked her head to one side and looked at me. "You owe me no explanation, Ethan. It is fine; I understand." She smiled slightly.
I know she is not fine. She is trying to conceal her emotions. This is not what I wanted.
"I mean it; she is nothing to me." I tried to convince her.
She stood up and walked a little away from me. Then she turned to face me. Looking into my eyes.
"Do I have to remind you that this is a contractual marriage, Ethan? We signed a contract. You do not owe me an explanation." She barked.
This does not look good at all. This is not how I envisioned things to be. I stood up, and I ran my hand through my hair.
"Look. After what we had last night. I think we should reconsider everything. Yes, we have a contract marriage, but maybe we can make it work." I tried to make sense.
She crossed her arms across her chest, still staring at me, and I disliked this side of her.
"We had sex. That's it. So, why are you making a big deal about it?" She complained.
"I am not making a big deal of anything. I just want us to work. I do not want this Magdalene situation to come between us. We had something special together. And I do not want it to stop."
"And why is that?" She asked.
"Because," I paused. "Because I like you."
