Emma returned to her office. Mr. Michael, the hotel president, got up right away, eager to find out how her meeting with the CEO went. Genna was also nervous. Emma gave them a sudden smile, and they knew it was good news.
"Sir," Emma said as she approached her boss, who was awaiting responses. "You can go back to see him. You do not have to worry about this issue any longer, I assure you." She nodded and grinned.
"Thank you, dear," said Mr. Michael, smiling as he held her hand. Now let me go see him." He went out of her office.
"Just like that?" Genna was taken aback, as she was also anticipating a miracle. "What did you do? Did you have sex with him in his office? Stop keeping me in suspense and just tell me, please.
"Sex?" Emma snickered. "Genna, you have such a filthy mind. Out of everything you could say. Sex? Never. That is only going to occur in your dreams," Emma said.
Genna was not pleased. She desired something luscious. Something good to happen between those two.
"I will see you tonight." Having already returned to her computer, Emma said, "I need to get back to work." Emma called Genna back just as she was ready to open the door.
"Genna, hold on." Genna looked over at Emma. "I will be unavailable this evening. Would you kindly watch my daughter?
When Genna heard that, she hurried back to Emma. "Tell me, do you have a date?"
Emma replied, "Yes. And no more questions."
"Wow, so he's taking you out tonight, right? Oh, I am so happy for you, my friend." She kissed Emma's temple while giggling.
"Hold on, we were not supposed to be here. Girl, we have to go shopping. Tonight, you must look your best. Furthermore, you are going on a date with the most eligible bachelor—and a billionaire at that—rather than just any old man. You have to look your best, girl."
Emma found Genna's response to the entire situation surprising. Despite her exuberance, Genna is straightforward, blunt, and kind. Emma loves her because she has a pure heart and says things the way she sees them. They share secrets and are best friends.
Genna is nearly as tall as Emma. Her skin is tanned. Buttons nose. and a short, blonde with a pixie cut. She works hard and plays a lot.
"I can manage with what I have. Meeting him this evening is not a huge deal. It is not a date. Hold on, I have no idea what to call it.
Genna held her hand. "I am aware that you are afraid because he is billionaire Ethan Williams. You must find it difficult to accept. But look at me." She used her fingers to lift Emma's chin. "I believe that everything happens for a reason. Be yourself and nothing else. However, for the shopping..."
Their conversation was interrupted by a knock on the door. A man carrying some shopping bags entered the office wearing a black suit.
"This is for you, Ma'am." He left right away after leaving the bags on the coffee table in her office's tiny lounge area. After exchanging glances, Emma and Genna hurried to check the contents of the bags.
Two dresses were visible to them. One was an Armani short dress with sequins and another was a deep blue floor-length dress with an open back. What? Did I just say Armani? This is enormous, wow.
They also discovered a pair of Gucci shoes with off-white and deep blue studs. There was a jewellery box in one bag and a clutch in another.
The women guessed right away. Together, they say his name. "Ethan Williams!"
"How does he know my size?" As soon as Emma asked, her phone rang. Rushing back to her desk, she snatched up her phone. She took a look at the caller ID. The number was unclear.
"Unknown number," she whispered to her friend, who instructed her to respond.
"Hello?" she asked.
"Have you received what I sent you?" Ethan's husky voice vibrated from the phone speaker, tingling.
Emma recognized Ethan's voice. "Sure, but why did you do that? And how did you know my size?" Emma was curious to know.
"None of this matters. Make sure to wear one of the dresses tonight. I will pick you up by 7 p.m." He disconnected the call, leaving Emma speechless. She wondered, "Why was he so rude?"
Ethan was in his office, reviewing some files. He wanted to get through his work as quickly as possible. A knock on the door prompted him to say, "Come in." His focus was fixed on the files he was handling.
Liam entered the office and took a seat on one of the lone sofas. "Hello, boss." "What is up?" he asked.
"I am fine, Liam," Ethan said, still not looking at him.
"I would like to show you some more photos of attractive women. They are very beautiful. Making a decision will be challenging." He smiled.
The twenty-nine-year-old man has been occupied with finding a suitable match for his boss and friend.
Ethan looked up to see Liam's brown hair cascading down his face. He noticed that he got lean. Additionally, his green eyes appear darker. After shaking his head, he resumed his work.
"My friend, you are working yourself too hard. However, you do not have to worry about it anymore. You can now put your search to rest. I have found my woman," he said subconsciously.
"Did you just say 'your woman'?"
Ethan stood up, from his swivel chair. He walked over to Liam and sat across from Liam. "You heard me, Liam. My woman, I said. Maybe not now, but she will be. So, stop searching for women. I'm taken already."
"OK, slow down," Liam said with a laugh. "Who is she?" inquired Liam.
Liam is Ethan's good friend. They attended the same school and, upon graduation, began working together. Even though Ethan took over the business after his father passed away, it has since expanded to new heights.
For all these years, Liam and Ethan have been working together. He is the only one who can relate to Ethan and treats him like a brother. He appears to be overly protective of Ethan at times.
His height is 6'2". Brown hair, green eyes. Slim body, very attractive.
He was granted a great deal of authority by Ethan, which enabled him to make numerous choices without seeking Ethan's approval. And Ethan consistently accepted the majority of his recommendations. Aside from this marriage thing. Ethan believes he has every right and responsibility to select the woman he wants.
However, Ethan has also forgotten that marriage is merely a contract and not a love marriage because he has been enthralled with Emma's beauty. But for the first time, he wants to make this choice on his own, and he is taking it seriously.
"This woman is the same one who made fun of me, Liam."
"No way. The one with a child?"
"Yes, that one."
"No, you can't be serious now. I will get you a decent woman, at least from a decent, well-off family. Not some gold digger."
"Watch your language, Liam. She is not interested in my money, just so you know. Furthermore, she has no interest in me. She still has not consented to marry me. What happens next will be decided at our meeting tonight."
"Really? Why? You are what every woman wants, for heaven's sake. What sane woman would turn down your proposal? "Dude, that is a joke," Liam chuckled.
"A joke I wish, but it is not," Ethan said in closing. "Liam," he called.
