"Okay, okay. Here we go." Elsworth waved his hands around the cake to create a statue of Y/n, standing cutely by herself.
"So lonely." He went to change it to both of them in their coronation outfits with Y/n slightly behind him. He put his fingers near his head in concentration. "Stiff."
He tried one more time to him holding onto a frozen Y/n, sobbing. "I can't do that!" He sighed, focusing harshly on the ice figure in the center of the cake, turning it into them skating together. Come on, Elsworth, this is for Y/n. You can do this."
"Relax!" Kristoff dipped his giant mop-brush into the paint hanging from Sven's antlers. He began to paint the giant piece of paper sprawled across the courtyard while Anna held it in place. "It looks great!"
"I just want it to be perfect," he said, still fretting over it.
"Perfect?" Anna asked with emphasis, rolling her eyes. "You didn't even get her a ring!"
Way to remind him. His last gift was going to be an engagement ring, but nothing was good enough for her. He felt so bad about his disappointment that he told the jeweler that he would think it over and come back, rather than say what he really thought.
He would ask her first and get the ring later.
Kristoff climbed off the ladder while his girlfriend held it. "Speaking of perfect, check this out."
Happy Anniversary, Y/n
Elsworth looked up at it, giving a nervous sigh of a laugh. He walked over, wiping the paint from Kristoff's cheek and checking Anna's hands. She was always so messy in an endearing way. She had already managed to get it on the front of her dress.
"Kristoff, Anna, are you absolutely sure I can leave you in charge here?"
"Absolutely," Kristoff nodded confidently.
Anna gently pulled her hands away and waved one, stepping around her brother to take a better look at the sign. "C'mon, Elsworth, it's us. Me. Your sister whom you ever so much adore?" She held out her thumb to the banner and squinted, tilting it to get a better look.
"I know, I just don't want anything to happen to this courtyard." He wandered to a table to fix the flowers, sniffling. Absently, he wiped his nose on his sleeve.
"What could happen?" Kristoff asked, not at all concerned. "It's all set."
But Anna put her thumb down when she heard him sniffle, looking over at him in concern. "Elsworth, you feeling okay?"
"Olaf!" was the immediate answer, his head snapped up towards the table. "What are you doing?!"
Guilty, Olaf turned around, f/c frosting smeared on his mouth and stuck to his snow. "I'm not eating cake," he said with his mouth full.
"Olaf..."
"But it's a f/f cake!"
Bending over patiently, Elsworth added, "And it's fot Y/n."
"And it's for Y/n..." he repeated, defeated.
Once Elsworth had turned away, he spat out the now-balled cake and stuck it back into place.
The bells announced the time, making the king gasp. "Oh, it's time!"
"It's time!" Olaf cheerfully repeated, the cake now forgotten. But he added, confused, "For what?"
"Okay." Elsworth chuckled, backing towards the castle doors. "You sure you got this?"
"We're sure," Kristoff said confidently, not understanding what the big deal of an anniversary was. After all, it was also his and Anna's anniversary. But, since Elsworth had insisted - no, like, he gave an almost threatening lecture - that Kristoff do something, he had planned the night with Anna and she was content with a night in his wagon around Arendelle, singing silly songs on his lute.
