LATISHA VALENTINE
A loud sound that seems like an explosion envelopes the entire Whale Forest. The wind was harsh as it twirls into a direction, making my hair dance in a frenzy manner, but despite that, I am not affected by the sudden attack. Aside from the turbulence of the wind, the trees were cut into two as the land rumbled from the outburst. It also created a smoke around the area, making my vision limited.
It took a moment before the smoke dispersed and exposed a corrupted area of the forest. The land has cracks of an uneven size- like an earthquake suddenly occurred just around. Fallen leaves from the now dead trees were scattered, and a figure of a very pissed woman lies panting just a few yards from me.
May malalim na tingin ito sa direksyon ko na parang gusto niyang kitilin ang aking buhay. Bawat taas-baba ng kanyang balikat ay pinapakita kung gaano na siya pagod sa nangyayari. Exhaustion is evident in her face, and as well as the bruises she gets from this fight.
"You are slow," I muttered. I used a great pressure to let go of the spear I'm holding and it ruptured the soil because of its heavy weight. Mabigat nga talaga ito, pero tuwing hawak ko naman ito ay hindi maipagkakaila na gumagaan siya.
"Don't mock me, I'm fucking trying my best here!" she exclaimed and readed her staff to attack me. She focused all her energy on the spinel crystal on top of the staff that was accompanied with intricate designs. Within seconds, she blasted another attack in my direction.
A side of my lips curved into a smirk. "Still slow," I whispered and with my single left hand, I created a slash out of the wind and broke the spell she blasted off. "I told you, Laviene. If you're going to create a spell, plan it before you visualize it. Casting takes time, but you already know how to cast inside your mind," I continued. The impact made each side receive a blast of pure energy.
Laviene let out a scream, showing off her aggressiveness. She let go of the staff and only the bottom sunk on the ground, making it stand very still. She then crossed her arms and displayed her annoyance. "You know very well that I am adjusting to this freaking body. I can't even use my power well, you cunt!" she exclaimed.
Napabuntong hininga na lamang ako. With a single breath, I dispersed the circle that was protecting the other side of the forest from all our attacks. It was a protective barrier that can be used as a powerful defense.
"If you are not going to train your energy, how will you stay in that body for long?" I said, slowly walking my way towards her. "May mga araw na hindi tayo magkasama, kaya kailangan mong masanay na nasa katawan ka ng iba. I don't want you to stay inside me anymore, because it affects my pregnancy."
Napahawak ako sa aking lumalaking tiyan. I returned the natural bump I had since there are no people who would disclose my identity. Also, Whale forest is highly protected by wild animals, so it's not easy to enter the center of the forest alone.
"We are assassins, Latisha," she blurted out. She let her body sit on a fresh log that was sliced from earlier. "We hold sharp blades and kill people, not a staff that stores energy and is a support!" she continued.
"We are also Mages," I uttered. I slowed down my pace and looked at her intently, implying the truth of our births. "Mage may not be as strong and fast as assassins, and have less combat skills for we are only supported in terms of battle. Our power is far unfathomable, Laviene. Also, I can't let you hold a sword, who knows who you will point them at."
"Probably you," she snorted. She let out another scorn and fixed herself. "I can't get used to this body. Sa dami ng tao sa buong imperyo, bakit ganitong mukha pa nakuha mo? Minamaliit mo ba ako?" she said as she pointed at me.
