After reading Carly's journal entries for past 2 months and reflecting on how my sister last month's felt, I learned more about my boyfriend, Chad. most of the details I had forgotten, her meeting Chad, her throwing coffee on me, stealing her boyfriend that night, I remember how awful I felt, yet she still stood by my side, even in death.
this past 7 months for being here, I've learnt more about everyone due to Carly's awesome writing skills as she tells the story as it is without sugar coating it, this made me love her even more.
the anxious feeling, I felt when I first gotten here, had disappeared as I started feeling like I had truly belonged, I was the popular girl, smart and was dating the most popular guy in school, and I was nominated to be the head perfect and debate champion life was going well, and Chad and I were going steady. And my friendship with Valentina grew as if we had known each other for years.
As prom was 2 weeks away, and I was 2nd in line in becoming prom queen next to Valentina of course. Many friendships had ended because of two best friends being nominated together but us we couldn't care less who had won, but it was a huge perk here being nominated as it could boost your social presence, and that we both craved like most teenage girls our age.
"Val, have you seen the class list" I asked.
"Oh, my gawd yesss!!!" she responded.
"You have an 92% of your average, girl how I have an 85" I uttered with some confusion.
"Study Bitch" she uttered while dying of laughter.
"I AM" I said as a tear feel from my cheek due to me dying of laughter.
Suddenly, Chad interrupted us.
"Hello, my beautiful kitty cat, and my beautiful friend Val" Chad uttered.
"Hey babe" I responded twirling my hair.
"Hey" Val replied.
" So, guess who's having a party tonight." Chad stated.
" Uh, you" Val said.
"Duh" He replied.
As we spent hours talking about Chad's annual spring bash, so long I had forgotten that I had a kid tutoring at 3pm, as I stepped away as I saw the kid, I was tutoring entered the room.
"Hey, are we still on" John uttered shyly.
"Sure, john" I said while leaving the squad.
Tutoring lasted a bit longer than I had hoped, I could not stop staring at john's mouth, as to me he looked like a hot burrito with extra cheese on the side. if I didn't have a boyfriend, I probably would date him like he's so cute and hot. I had been day- dreaming for so long I had forgotten that he was asking me a question.
"Earth to Mandy" he uttered.
"Oh shit, my bad" I yelled.
"What's number 21?" He asked.
"Kiss me" I said not knowing I had said that.
"I would, but you look deranged as hell, probably like joker himself" he said.
" Oh" I replied.
"Your hair look like it's from the dollar store, call Doctor Miami for an eyelift" he said as he threw the coffee on me.
"SHIT" I said as cleaned myself up.
Suddenly Chad saw me drenched in coffee.
"Getting Deja Vu, from 8th grade right" he said while killing himself of laughter.
"SHUT UP" I whined.
"Imma coffee you later" He laughed.
"Sighs......Your Dad Jokes are getting old" I scoffed.
"at least I'm not coffeed ha-ha" he replied.
"THAT'S IT" I Yelled
I grabbed in and gave him some kisses as if I wasn't flirting with his teammate.
~ Later that night ~
As we went to our dorms and doing our hair and our makeup and picking out our dresses for Chad's party tonight. My phone beeped, I looked at it and immediately scoffed it was john apologizing. I immediately threw my phone.
"Who was that" Val Asked.
" Some guy" I scoffed.
"Men" Val added as we grinned.
After a while we started dancing, Chad took me upstairs, and yes yall know what happened next. suddenly I remembered I had to talk to Valentina, so I left the room and downstairs. But I saw her around a ground of guys knowing Valentina she hated being around a lot of guys, I grabbed her arm for she was utterly uncomfortable.
"Are you ok" I asked.
She nodded but she was still uncomfortable.
then suddenly she said the words "I love you Carly and I'm going miss you. "
I went to get her a drink, as she was looking a bit dehydrated, But as I went looking for her as she disappeared completely. It was like she had left the party, so thinking that she left we went looking for Chad, as I when outside to catch my breath as I was horrified of what I had seen.
There I had seen my best friend hanging on a rope wearing her undergarments. As I screamed the crowd looked my way as we were all horrified.
Few Hours Later (at the precinct)
"Miss Reyes, are you ok" Sherriff Winters asked.
"Why would I be, my fricken best friend died?" I responded.
"I'm sorry, I know how you felt, I lost my brother and 3 best friends back in 82'' He stated.
"82? Wait as in the chainsaw killer back in 1982?" I asked.
"Indeed" he said as he wiped his face.
"How did you survive" I asked.
" That's a question, I'm still asking myself today" he asked.
we talked for almost 2 hours for I was a victim to a murder as a kid as so was, he. meanwhile my dad walked in.
"AMANDA ASHLEY REYES WHAT DID YOU DO NOW!!" He yelled.
"Nothing" I yelled back.
"Her best friend died uh. Valentina " officer winters added.
the car ride was pretty quiet as he was driving me back to school, until he finally burst.
"I'm sorry " he added.
I didn't answer.
as I watched the cops take Valentina's stuff out of our dorm, I burst out crying for she was the only friend I had left since what had happened to Valentina back in July.
first Carly, then Alyssa now Valentina, I guess this is my curse.
