Lost Flame

He lived happily ever after, eventually,
Amidst the fire that burned in his chest,
With lesson after lesson, he came to understand
The flame, after so many years in the dark.

Drifting alone, he searched for sweet words that never lie
His heart was empty, but his soul was burning with desire
Finally, sitting on the throne of his emptied heart,
He knew he would find what he was looking for one day.

The hunt for that spark felt so natural to him
Having everything he wanted yet never feeling like it was enough
Waging constant wars with no goal in sight
Years spent chasing a meaningless chase.

The hurt and pain he stored in his heart
It grew and grew until one day, it cracked
Abandoned by the one he loved and trusted
He was so young and inexperienced, yet so wise beyond his years.

Even with a broken heart, he still found joy
Laughing with the memories that had made him stronger
A prince of starry nights, now a king of wonder,
Once upon a time, far away.
