Chapter 8: Quotidian Quick Quills
Lucy led her new bodyguard, Dean Cousins, around Hogwarts castle. He held onto her arm nervously as she showed him every inch of the place. As they walked, however, Dean kept glancing at different students to see if the posed as a threat to Lucy Snape the girl he vowed to risk his life for from now on. Dean couldn't help but pay very close attention to what Lucy was saying, it was vital information and he needed to know everything he could about Hogwarts.
"So what do you think, so far?" Lucy asked Dean who finished looking around at the Transfiguration courtyard and took out his notebook and a quill.
"I like the place, it's really nice," he nodded, jotting down a few notes. "But what are the badges on your robe?" He asked, Dean let go of her arm and Lucy pointed to the badges on her chest.
"One is because I am a prefect, in which I walk around school and help people out and the other is because I'm Gryffindor's Quidditch captain," Lucy then went on to explain about the four different houses of Hogwarts and their meaning. "You have to be pretty special to be Quidditch captain."
"I think you're special!" Dean blurted out and tried to hide his blush with his notebook, Lucy laughed.
"Thank you, Dean, that's rather kind of you. Now, how about I show you the seventh floor?"
They wandered up to the seventh floor together, Dean still clinging onto her arm like a lost puppy but still trying to be dominant. He would prove his worth at this school and look after Lucy no matter what happened.
When they arrived they walked around until Lucy halted, causing Dean to give a shuddery halt too. Dean looked at her, hoping for some kind of explanation but none was given. He tapped her on the shoulder politely to get her attention.
"What's Draco Malfoy doing up here?" She asked in a low voice, more thinking out loud than anything.
"Lucy, what is a Draco Malfoy?" Dean asked timidly.
"That — " Lucy pointed at the blond haired Slytherin as he stood outside where the door for the room of requirement was. "He's not supposed to be up here," Lucy began to walk off but Dean grabbed her by her waist, hauling her back with both arms.
"I think he's trouble! We should stay here!" Dean advised as Lucy struggled against him. Lucy broke free from Dean's grip and strode towards Draco.
"MALFOY!" Lucy yelled running towards him.
"Wait!" Dean whimpered as he ran after Lucy. "Wait!"
"Ah, Lucy Snape! How peculiar I should find you up here! I could just call your father now and tell him about how you're wandering off at this hour," Draco spat sourly.
"Could say the same thing about you, besides, I'm a prefect."
"So am I — " Draco pointed to the badge on his chest.
"Well you weren't last year."
"That's because Umbridge's group was better than Dumbledore's stupid prefects. I would have taken the Inquisitorial Squad any day over the job of a prefect."
"Why join now?"
"Because I have to."
"You could just give the badge back."
Draco fell silent.
"Coward," Lucy gave an evil smirk, she'd finally caught Draco out on this one.
Draco snarled and pulled out his wand. "Be quiet you filthy little — "
"GET DOWN!" Dean screamed all of a sudden, tackling Draco to the floor. Fury flooded into Dean's eyes as he snarled into Draco's face, he grabbed hold of Draco's shoulders and pinned him down. The wand that Draco had just taken out to attack Lucy with rolled onto the floor to her feet.
