It's complicated

Chapter 6

I recall the pity my mom look at me with last night when I couldn't digest the food that she made. How I covered it and put it I the fridge and how she helped me to bed and read me a bedtime story. She made me feel like her little princess and not the big girl that's about to go into the adult world. I felt so much better, I felt loved, for a second there I forgot about Mike and his act of hurting me. I wake up to being home alone, my mom is already at work. I really overslept. I don't have school today, no exam and no classes. I walk to the kitchen in my Pj shorts and vest. My stomach is grumbling, I'm so hungry, the food that I couldn't get down my throat last night now seems so appealing. 

I take my plate from the fridge and microwave the jollof rice that my mom made. No wonder she was so worried about me, she made my favorite meal and I wasn't even able to eat. she probably thought I'm very sick. 

My phone rings from my room. I go switch off the alarm and as soon as I swipe right to get it off, I notice the last message that Mike sent me. "I don't know why you are ignoring me but I wanted to tell you that for our date, I want to keep it as non sexual as possible, lets have a nice non sexual date," the message reads. Oh so now that he has Mandisa, he doesn't need me for sex as usual. He must think that I'm a fool. I wont even allow him to go anywhere with him.

 Schools are closing in a week so I wont have  to see his face in front of me for a while. I only have two exams left and I don't have to see him for either one. He doesn't do science and the English paper I wont even be in the same venue with him. He wont be a problem. I really don't want to hurt his feelings too. His hurt me but I don't want to be petty, if I say something about what is going on, it might ruin Mandisa's chances with him, just because I'm not happy doesn't mean she shouldn't be, maybe she will be the one he actually loves, maybe she will love him i a manner that he wont be tempted to do the same thing he did to me.

"Mandisa I need to get out of going out with Mike , Please send me a message saying that  you need me to go out somewhere with you," the little sound you hear when you stop recording a voice note goes off, I press the blue send button and Mandisa does what I asked her of within seconds. She is such a keeper.

I screenshot the chat and send it to Mike, "Sorry Micheal, I cant go out anymore, I have to help Mandisa,"I add this as a caption to the screenshot. He responds so quickly with a "k". K!? Who the hell does he think he is to say K to me. MXM. I delete his number then archive his chat. No wonder he was more than happy to accept my offer to just be sneaky links, he just wanted my friend the whole time. Piece of shit!!! I hope she breaks his heart.

Micheals POV:

"I told you she just wanted sex," Nathans message reads. I grunt in frustration. He was right. 

I text one of my female friends, outside of Nathan and the boys, she is the only other person who knows everything that is going on. "I'm going to accept Mandisa's proposal, "she responds before I can even type another message. "Mike you cant be serious, you want to ruin what you have with Rorisang because of Mandisa. I mean Rorisang is such a sweetheart and she is beautiful too," it reads, I never told her I like Rori so I respond with something that should make sense to someone who doesn't know I like her.

"D, Rori and I just had a sneaky link thing going on, but Mandisa really likes me, This is my chance to have something real. something that's not just centered around sex. Plus, Rori is acting expensive, I wanted to do so much for her on this date and she just blew me off. She sent me screenshot, of her friend asking her to help her with something on the day we wanted to go out on." I say sending her a screenshot.

"Okay, so?" She responds, obviously she isn't as observant as I am. "Daph look at the times, she was having a conversation with her just before, then she sent a voice note so that I don't know what she is telling her, then her friend says "hey, again and asks her what she wants to ask, in the middle of their conversation, it doesn't make sense," she doesn't respond as quickly this time, I'm sure she is observing and looking for what I mentioned. She starts typing....

"Okay I get what you are saying, but that's not reason for you to go to prom with her best friend, I know y'all are just a sneaky link but don't you think that's a bit disrespectful?" she says

"Daphne, she's acting all expensive, its not like I'm trying to marry her by asking her on this date, so why is she acting like its a big deal. I mean she  could have told her friend she already had plans? In fact I don't care,"i type and hit send.

"You don't sound like someone who doesn't care Mike, I think maybe, just a crazy thought nhe, I think you where starting to develop feelings for Rori. In fact you dnt have to tell me, I've made up my mind that you where. I think she likes you too. You accepting the proposal is a bad idea. You only hurting Rori, but I don't think hurting her like this because she brushed you aside is going to make her like you more instead you will be pushing  her away. Also, she's a girl, girls always act expensive, sometimes they just want you to give them attention and beg them a bit. I think you also just angry because you have met your match, of all the things you have told me about you and her, she is not like all the girls who have been throwing themselves at you, and do what you say at the snap of a finger, she is a bit fiesty, its good for you. "I read the message three times over, ag Daphne is just a girl, what does she know, after all you cant ask a fish how to fish can you?

"I  cant just let her walk all over me," I respond. 

Her next message doesn't  include her trying to convince me against my decision, "LOL you have anger issues, I don't know your choice seems set in stone, either ways I guess my opinion is baised cause I don't like Mandisa, so guess you can do as you please, you never listen to me anyways..."

I don't have a response for that so I just send a sticker, I am tempted to consider her opinion but a text from my boy Nathan reminds me to text Mandisa back.

Mandisa's POV

I'm sitting having lunch while watching tv when my phone vibrates next to me. I ignore it at first thinking its a text from Rorisng. It vibrates again. Agggg what does she want.

I pick up the phone, and a huge smile develops on my face, its not Rori, its Mike, he never responded to my picture the day before yesterday so I thought it didn't work.

"I don't think going with you is such a big deal," the first message reads. "We can go together," the second one reads.
