(Unedited)

You arrived at school the next day absolutely appalled. But the people just didn't... Care? Huh. Okay.

Adrien gave you a small wave as you walked in the classroom. You waved back, ignoring the look of jealousy Marinette shot at you. Usually you were the jealous one. You would never ever imagine someone being jealous of you. Of all people. Jealousy is the thief of joy.

Your stupid partner wasn't here once again. Where the fuck is she. Maybe she got like, kidnapped or something. You'll just text her when you get home. Not that you necessarily cared (to be quite frank, you didn't know her well enough to do so), you were just a morbidly curious person.

Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back.. Or however that saying went.

You sat in your little row, using her seat as a leg rest once again. You took a sip out of your water, letting out a dreamy sigh as you thought. Alix, Rose, Juleka, and Sabrina sat by you, and you guys began to discuss the skit and how you would present it.

"Give me the LEAST amount of lines or I WILL cut myself." Alix was the only one who laughed. She's the only one who could understand you and your weird little sense of humor (and kinda weird coping skills). You had to get married to Alix. She's the only one who understands.

"Oh no.. We wouldn't want that to happen!" Rose said, genuinely concerned. "We'll just give you the last line. 'That's why we walk in the halls'." (The presentation is on walking in the halls btw. NOT running bc thats BAD.)

"Oh I can do that... Heck yeah." You cheered to yourself silently. It's not that you didn't like presentations. You could care less about them. You just didn't wanna do them.

"Class dismissed! Go to first period. Please be ready with your skits by tomorrow morning."

You let out a moan of satisfaction. As much as you hated fitness, it was one of the few classes where you could talk with Alix.

You FINALLY got your stupid gym clothes so you didn't have to run laps and play weird french sports in your jeans. Today you guys went to the school stadium and walked up and down the stairs. You didn't realize you were so unfit until this moment, and you currently regretted every burger you've eaten before this moment.

Alix laughed at your antics, causing you to flip her off.

After that was done, you changed, put on a bunch of deodorant, and sprayed yourself with some random girl's perfume.

You walked very slow to art, showing up (somehow) earlier than times when you'd run here.

Adrien was still earlier. You wondered why.

"Hi (N)!"

"Hey Adrien." You lied your head on the desk, groaning before shutting your eyes.

Adrien let out a snicker. "Tired?"

You nodded. "I hate fitness."

"I know."

"How?"

"You're very vocal on your opinions."

You only giggled at his answer.

".. You said you went to an alternative high school for delinquents, right?" Adrien asked suddenly.

You sat up, looking into his green eyes. His eyes twitched ever so slightly, face etched with almost unnoticeable concern as he stared back into your hazy (c) eyes. He couldn't tell if the wall of fog you built up as an involuntarily protective layer was formed from sadness, or fear.

".. Scholarship. I'm smart."

"But you have a bad record?.."

"I still have a grade of 18."

His eyes slightly widened. He didn't expect that from someone like you. When you said you were smart, he expected a 13 or maybe a 14. But 18?

".. Woah. 18?"

You nodded slowly, focusing your attention on the table. You twirled a pencil in your fingers.

"Before I was like... this-- I, uhm- I liked learning a lot. I grew up poor. I wanted my mom and my sister to have good lives. I wanted to buy them stuff, and see them happy. So I focused a lot on my grades."

A sad look found it's way on his face.

"Yeah?" He asked, voice very frail, as if you would shatter if he spoke too loudly.

"..Yeah." You nodded.

He put a comforting (friendly) hand on your shoulder, causing something in your chest to warm. You can remember the last time you comforted you, but you don't remember the last time someone comforted you.

"I know what it feels like to lose someone very important to you. I'm here if you ever want to talk."

"... Really?" You were shocked. Why is he so kind?

"Yeah. We're friends."

That thought was more than enough to make you smile.

"Thanks man."

You were always scared someone would get attached to you, but you never thought you'd get attached to someone else.
