Your first week at school flew by pretty quick. But so did your weekend. Today was Monday, and you just showed up at school.

Today was Adrien's birthday. You asked Nino for a list of stuff Adrien liked a week prior. He gave you a list of things. Simple things. Things like his favorite candy (sour gummy worms, btw), a video game he really wanted, and his favorite baked sweet.

The night before, you baked peanut butter cookies, which turned out surprisingly good.

You stopped by the store to get gummy worms and somehow managed to swipe a game from the store without the cashiers noticing.

You threw it all in a cheap birthday bag with some fun-fetti colored tissue paper. You had to say you were proud of yourself. This was a good present. You just hoped that Adrien enjoyed it as much as you did.

You may be a bad person, but you value your friends and family more than anything. You would never skip any of your friend's birthdays. Ever. Even if you were just acquaintances.

You entered the class and made eye contact with Adrien. He gave you a slight smile. "Hi (N)." All his friends turned to face you.

You and Adrien were okay friends. In art, you acted kind of as a vent buddy. He would talk to you about how his mom was dad, and ever since, his dad was cold and distant. You didn't tell him much about yourself. You had a fucked up life; if he wanted to hear about it, you would have to get to know him better then you currently did now.

Not to say you didn't trust him at all. You held some trust in the guy. You let him watch your Starbucks drink for two minutes while you went to the bathroom. He didn't spike it. That kind of increased your trust in him.

But you weren't gonna just tell him about your previous best friend shoving his penis inside of you just because he didn't spike your drink. Same thing with the topic of your sister.

"Hey, birthday boy. This is for you." You handed him the bag. His eyes widened. "I- You didn't have to do this for me. Thank you."

You watched as his face got brighter with each item he saw. He looked up to you, his eyes filled with a different type of joy. A joy he hasn't experienced before (by the looks of it, at least). He looked like he was about to cry. You felt bad for the him. Has no one given him a present before?

"Come here, man." You opened your arms, offering him a hug. He quickly got up and embraced you, wrapping his arms around your waist.

"Thankyouthankyouthankyo-" You giggled at his antics, slowly pulling away. "You're a great friend, (N)." He smiled sweetly at you. "I know. I'm just the greatest, right?"

He smiled. A genuine, happy smile. "Again, thank you."

Your lips tugged up higher. "Don't mention it."

You walked up the seating isle, sitting in your row. Your partner Lila hasn't been here all of last week, and it was starting to worry you. Heh. Guess that meant you had room to rest your legs.

After a minute or so, your advisory teacher came in. She took attendance and started talking. You kinda zoned out, so you didn't hear much of what she said. The only words you could make out were 'Skit', 'Partner', and 'Presentation'.

Oh shoot. Your partner wasn't here today. You assumed she wasn't gonna be here tomorrow, either.

The teacher looked around the room. "I'm gonna pick your groups. We'll be doing groups of five. Marinette, Adrien, Chloe, Nino, and Alya. You're group one."
