"Mom, I'm home!" Annie yelled as she walked in through the front door. She set her bags down and went off to look for her mother.
"Mom? Mooommmmmm. MOM!" She kept saying. No reply. So, she went into the living room.To her surprise, her mother was on the couch asleep with food all over the floor.
"Mom!" She said shaking her.
Her mom woke up. "What do you need..?" She mumbled still half asleep.
"Can I go to a party tonight?" Annie asked.
Her mom sat up. "For who..?"
"A friend I made at school today."
Her mom blinked and rubbed her eyes. "Oh did you? What's her name?" She asked.
"Well actually it's a boy. His name is Collin." Annie replied.
Her mom sighed. "A boy? I don't know about that. Your father would not agree."
Annie shook her head. "Mom, please? It's just a back to school party, and there's gonna be other girls there!"
Annie's mom shrugged. "I'll think about it. For now, I need you to go to the grocery store for me."
"I literally just got home Mom!" Annie complained.
Annie's mom gave her a glare. "Do as you're told."
Annie sighed and got up. "What do you need?"
"Flour, cake mix, and some cabbage." Mom replied. As Annie rode her bike to Wilburt Groceries, the weather seemed to of be getting bad. The clouds were dark gray, and it was humid outside.
When she finally got to the grocery store, she parked her bike and went inside.
"Welcome to Wilburt's Groceries." A worker said.
Annie waved and then went to the baking section. As she looked for the flour, she realized it was at the very top of the shelf. Determined, she started climbing the shelf's to grab it. Just as she was about to grab the flour, she slipped and crashed to the ground.
"Owwwww." Annie groaned.
"Are you good?" A soft male voice said, picking her up from her hips.
Annie looked up to see the same boy from lunch. The one who shoved her to the ground. Levi.
"Oh, it's you. The kid that tried to steal my seat.." Levi said.as she
"Some kid told me that seat was open. I don't see why it's such a big deal!" Annie mumbled.
Levi smirked. "It's not a big deal, pal. I was somewhat joking. Messing with the freshmen is quite entertaining. But one part I was joking about—I will be really mad if you take my seat again dude."
Annie could only laugh. "Alright then, cool."
Levi looked up at the flour. "Don't tell me you tried to climb the shelves.."
"Well how else was I supposed to get the flour??" Annie replied.
Levi grinned. "I dunno. But I could've gotten it for you."
Annie rolled her blue eyes. "I don't need help. I can just get it myself." She said as she went to climb the shelves again. When she finally got ahold to the flour, she slipped and fell. As she embraced falling onto the concrete ground, she was left surprised. She didn't hit the floor. Instead, she was in Levi's arms, held like a baby.
"Uhh put me down!" Annie said pushing him.
Levi grinned. "Whatever you say."
Annie sighed. "Why are you even still talking to me? I thought we were like enemies or something."
"Why would we be enemies? I've said like ten words to you." He laughed.
"Dunno. You just seem rude and stuff." Annie replied.
Levi shrugged. "I'm not rude, I just don't let people walk all over me. Anyway, do you need something else from a shelf or shall I let you go back to shopping?"
Annie shook her head. "No. I just need cake mix and cabbage."
Levi nodded. "Ight then. See you tomorrow, freshie."
"Stop calling me that!" Annie yelled as Levi walked away with a smug smirk on his gorgeous face. When Annie returned home, she set the groceries on the counter and went into the kitchen. Inside was her mother chopping up some tomatos.
"Well, you finally got back before the weather got bad. Did you get the three things I asked you to get?" She asked Annie.
Annie nodded. "Of course Mom.. anyway, about that party—.""I've decided to allow you to go to this party, but you must come home by like 10:30." Mom said.
Annie smiled. "Really? What made you change your mind?""Well I know you are just trying to make friends, so I'm allowing you this ONE time. But if I find out something bad is happening, I'm coming get you immediately and you will never have an opportunity like this again. Understand?" Mom explained.
"Oh thank you so much mom! Trust me, I won't mess this up." Annie exclaimed. The next day at lunch she went to sit with Elijah, Collin, and Addy.
"Hey boo. Surprised you came back." Addy said with a smile.
Annie only laughed.
"So, Annie, you coming to my party?" Elijah asked.
Annie nodded. "Yea, but my mom said if anything bad happens, I'm never allowed to go to a party again."
Elijah didn't smile. "Well, don't tell her anything that happens then. I'm not saying YOU will do anything but there's gonna be people drinking and shit. So if you can't handle that then I mean don't go. Another note: you are gonna be the only freshman there so.."Annie nodded. "I see. How many people did you invite?"
"Around fifty. Mainly the ladies, some of my friends, this table, and you." Elijah said.
Collin grinned. "Wow so we didn't even make the friend category?" He joked.
"You know what I was saying." Elijah said.
"Uh so when is the party?" Annie asked.
"Tomorrow night. You have a ride right?" Addy butted in.
Annie nodded. "I can ride my bike. My mom can't bring me because she has work."
Addy frowned. "Boo, let me just pick ya up. Riding a bike is pretty depressing."
"Are you sure? I don't wanna bother—"
"Yeah girlll. I gotchu." Addy interrupted. The bell rang and everyone went off to class. Annie went home after school and slept til the next day, which was a Saturday.
