Travis POV

I was out for brunch with Pat because it was one of the rare occasions where we didn't have practice in the morning. We decided to go to a small cafe that neither of us have tried before. We sat in the back corner even though there's not really paparazzi in KC, we still like sitting in secluded areas.

After we ordered our foot we chatted for a little bit before his phone started going off. He excused himself and walked away to take a phone call. I decided to take the time to check my notifications to see if I missed anything. Not much has happened since the last time I was on my phone but i scrolled for a little bit anyways. I saw that the podcast did really well but mainly because of the part about taylor swift. the swifties were going crazy and i don't blame them, i did bring the spotlight on myself like that. All the comments I saw were positive and cute so I was getting a good laugh out of reading them. Pat came back a couple minutes later and asked what was so funny. I showed him some of the comments and he smiled at me.
"You really like her don't you" Pat asked me
"i do but i think everyone thinks it's just a joke. that's okay too though cuz at least everyone knows what my point is." I said honestly
"So do you think she's gonna see it? Because if that's the case you better let me know what happens, i love this for you" Pat said while smirking at me
"I'm not sure she'll see it but if she does it's not like I said anything bad you know?"
"Ya that's true. Alright enough with the sappy stuff" Pat says while laughing

We continue talking about football and upcoming trips we are taking together. We had a good time for a while before it was time to part ways for the day. We said our goodbyes and i went back to my house to relax for the rest of my day off. I quickly took a shower and as if it was fate, the moment I picked up my phone it buzzed with a message. Absolutely not. That's not possible. it could be anyone right? no. it has to be her. I reread the message over and over again and decided to say "no way". I waited for a response but I didn't get one for a couple minutes so I knew it was just pat messing with me especially because we just talked about this a couple hours ago. I put some clothes on and head downstairs to rot on my couch for a little bit. I watched some tv and responded to emails but couldn't help but leave that message lingering in my mind. I kept picking up my phone even though i knew i didn't have any new messages from that number. I decided to screw it and go on a run. I changed into some different clothes and headed outside to the track that's behind my house. I put my airpods in and started the journey around the area. About five minutes into the run i felt my phone buzz in my pocket. don't check it. don't check it travis. focus on working out. you can see it later it's not going anywhere. Ah screw it. I picked up my phone and sat down on the ground for a minute to catch my breathe before reading the message.

TS: LOL i saw your podcast and decided to find out more about this little crush you have

Oh god she knows. travis what r u doing everyone knows damnit. Ok just got to stay calm and come up with a casual response. I can do this

TK: it's nottt a crush

Fuck. Yes it is what am i doing. if that doesn't push her away i don't know what will. I put my phone back in my pocket expecting to wait another two hours before getting a response but the second i put it away, i got a message. I pulled my phone back out and smiled when I saw who it was

TS: r u sure about that? it definitely did seem like it

I decided to trust my gut and just go with it. Was a risky? 100% but that wasn't gonna stop me.

TK: ok maybe it is but who doesn't like u even just a little bit

TS: you'd be surprised

TK: well those people are just stupid. ur amazing at what you do and it would be dumb to think otherwise

TS: Thanks :)

TK: so now that i'm on your good side, would i be able to come see you to give the bracelet myself?

did that come off too strong? oh god. her response took what felt like years to come.
