X narrowed his eyes at Four, who was sleeping peacefully next to him. Four had been so caring and sweet just a week ago, and now he was being rude again, leaving in the middle of the night only to return early in the morning, thinking X didn't notice anything.

X was sitting on the edge of the bed, gathering the guts to figure this all out once and for all. He glanced over to Four's key ring. There was at least 20 different keys on there, most of which X didn't know what they even went to, but one of those keys had to lead to the basement.

He quietly stood up, walking carefully over to the keys and picking them up as silently as he could. X then looked back at Four, making sure he was still asleep as he backed out of the door, slowly shutting it with a quiet click.

X made his way down the dark hallway, heart pounding in his ears. His breathing grew quicker as he neared the basement door, eyes locked on the ominous scratches around the frame. Four had dismissed it as a rat that he caught, but there was always that doubt in the back of X's mind. He gulped, fumbling through the keys, flinching at every sound he made, pausing to listen for movement in the other room.

After about 7 failed keys, one unlocked the silver lock, causing it to drop from the latch, hitting the floor with a loud thud. X covered his mouth, hurrying to open the door, praying Four didn't wake up.

When the door opened, the smell of copper flooded his senses, making him want to gag as he stepped into the darkness, holding his breath. X's hand patted along the wall as he went down the stairs, searching for the switch.

A small clink of metal came from the darkness, causing X to freeze and his blood to run cold.

"Hello..?"

"X

"X..?" A familiar voice echoed through the room, a bit of hope in their voice. X's eyes widened, quickly flicking the light on and seeing Two slumped in the corner, knees scabbed over and swollen with various marks scattered about. X wanted to cry, throw up, scream and leave all at the same time, not knowing how to react.

"Two!?" X slightly raised his voice. Two's eyes widen in fear. "No wait wait, i'm not gonna hurt you i promise-" X started trying to comfort two, making his way over before two shook their head. They weren't staring at X, they were staring past them. "Look out!" They cried, but it was too late.

crack.

X fell to the ground, unconscious as Four stood there, a look of horror on his face and that skillet in his hands.

"Holy shit.." Four dropped the pan, kneeling to X's level. He never wanted to have to hurt X, but he had to kill him before he would be able to remember anything of what he saw. Four frowned with guilt, glaring at Two before grabbing X and standing up, a small metal nail file falling out of his pocket as he carried X out to go re-spawn him.

Two stared at the nail file, dread setting in as they held back tears. Suddenly, an idea struck them. They quickly stretched their leg out as far as it would go, wincing as their knee unbent. But they barely reached the file, dragging it closer with their foot, trying to keep an eye on the door.
