(Y/n)'s POV

I stare at Crimp in disbelief. "What do you mean he wants me to go with him?"

Crimp shrugs as she shows me the clipboard. "That's all it says. Maybe you should ask him when you get the chance."

I lean back against the counter in thought. It's going to be noon in a few hours. I might as well do it now than later. "Fine. Do you know where he went?" I ask.

"He walked toward his room a little while ago. He's more than likely there," Crimp answers.

Great...his room. I nod before leaving the kitchen. "Hopefully this doesn't take up most of the day," I mutter to myself.

Down the hall, a little ways past the dressing rooms is where Velvet and Veneer have their own bedrooms. I see Veneer's door from a distance and quicken my pace.

Now in front of it, I raise my hand to knock. But for some reason, I stop when I get a nervous feeling. Almost like how an introvert feels about socializing with someone. Why now, though? I shake that thought out of my head and knock on the door.

I feel like I want to walk away, but it's too late for that now.

It's silent for a few seconds. I stand up straight when I hear footsteps coming from inside the room. the door opens, revealing the famous pop star himself.

Upon realizing it's me, Veneer smiles as he lifts an eyebrow. "Well, if it isn't our trusted assistant."

I give a small wave. "Yeah. Hi, Veneer. Crimp showed me today's schedule, and I wanted to ask why it says you want me to go with you for your outfit shopping."

Veneer crosses his arms and leans against the doorframe, his smug expression not changing one bit. "Is there anything wrong with that?"

I quickly shake my head, trying not to give him the wrong idea. "No, not at all. I'm just confused as to why you chose me instead of your usual bodyguards. You are going out in public after all."

"Going out in public with the same bodyguards gets a little tiring for a famous singer like myself. I wanted to change things up a bit. And who else do I know would be perfect for the job? Definitely not Crip," Veneer says sassily.

I tilt my head at his last statement. "You mean Crimp?"

"Yeah, yeah, Crimp," Veneer adds, waving his hand and dismissing the thought completely.

Still, his answer to my first question doesn't really make sense. "But I can't fend off all of your fans and keep an eye on you at the same time in one store. I'm not built for this little job of yours."

Veneer sighs before standing up straight and placing a hand on my shoulder. "Oh, (Y/n)...You're so oblivious. We're gonna have the shop to ourselves. I made sure the shop owner knew about that beforehand. If anything, I made this easier for you."

It takes me a few seconds to finally process what his plan is. I eventually nod, but this still doesn't feel normal for me. "So I just sit around and watch you pick out expensive outfits?"

He takes his hand off my shoulder and places it on his hip. "You could put it that way. Or you can pick some out for me as well."

I shake my head at the idea. "I'm not a fashion expert like you and Velvet. If anything, I'll wait around for you to try on the outfits in the dressing room."

That seems to brighten up his smile because he gets all excited all of a sudden. "Oh! And then I can show you! I'm sure you can handle that, right?" He's acting like a little kid, which is something you don't really expect to see from him.

I smile a little before saying, "Sure. And will this whole shopping spree take long? I still want you to have time to prepare for the performance today."

"Aww, you care for my well-being..." Veneer says jokingly. "Of course, it won't take long. And I'll make sure you and Crimp have plenty of time to do our hair, makeup, and everything else."

Well, I'm relieved that he's at least persistent on time management. "Yeah, uh, thanks. Can't wait to be your bodyguard for the day," I say in gratitude, even though I'm not playing a role as a bodyguard.

Veneer chuckles while patting my head now. "You get it. Now be a good assistant and make sure the car is ready for when I'm ready to leave." I don't get a chance to say anything else, because he walks back into his room and closes the door behind him.

Silence fills the air once again as I stare at the door. I think back on the conversation I had with him and on what I have to do now. Before long, I snap out of my daze. "I think that went rather well," I mutter to myself in satisfaction before walking away.

I pass by a dressing room, only to find Crimp doing Velvet's makeup. As eyeshadow is being applied on her, she says in a bossy tone, "Make sure it's out of sight once we leave."

"S-sure thing," Crimp says, her tone of voice sounding so nervous.

I immediately stop when I hear their conversation. Out of sight? Is she trying to hide something valuable, or what?

Not wanting to think that I'm eavesdropping, I continue down the hall. Veneer said to get the car ready for him. But the question is...which one? I think it's best to not draw that much attention to ourselves, so maybe not a convertible.
