You had been in bed, your husband Chris was laying next to you surfing the web on his laptop, you were watching a horror movie.
“New music babe?” You asked.
“Brainstorming.” He grinned.
“I’m sure it’ll be good. When you and Ricky put your heads together… I like that shit.” Chris laughed. “Well I’m done for tonight. What are you watching?”
“The Devil’s Rejects.” You answered.
“Oh good. I like this one.” He put an arm around your shoulders and you snuggled down to be closer to him.
“What time is it?” You asked.
“Two thirty in the morning. We’re night people.” He chuckled.
“I’d be scared if we were both asleep right now.”
Just as you spoke your two year old daughter ran into your room crying.
“Willow?!” Chris asked.
“DADDY!” She cried.
Your two year old daughter Willow had crawled into bed between you guys with puffy red eyes.
“What’s wrong my little ghoul?” Chris asked as burrowed herself into the blankets.
“Tell mommy and daddy.” You said.
“Bad dream.” She sobbed.
“Daddy won’t let anyone hurt you.” Chris cooed.”You or mommy.”
He scooped her up into his lap, you turned off the movie and curled up next to them. She twirled Chris’s black hair in her fingers as she sucked her thumb.
“Willow… What did I tell you about sucking your thumb?” He asked as he gently pulled her thumb from her mouth.
She buried her face in his chest. He hugged her and hummed to her. You stroked her dark hair and kissed her head.
“It’ll be okay baby.” You cooed.
“See? Mommy says you’ll be okay. Mommy knows what she’s talking about. What was your nightmare about?”
“You left.” She cried.
“I left?” Chris asked.
She nodded.
“Where did I go?”
“In a big bus…” She said. “With Uncle Ricky, Uncle Ghost, Uncle Angelo, Uncle Ryan, and Uncle Balz.”
You cleared your throat.
“Uncle Josh.” Chris grinned.
You and Chris exchanged a look. Willow was having nightmares about Chris leaving for tour.
“Baby, go downstairs and pick a movie for us all to watch.” You said.
“Any movie?” She smiled.
“Any movie.” As soon as she ran out you turned to Chris.
“This is bad…”
“Very…” He agreed.
“I guess I can bring you guys on the next couple tours but tour life is no life for her… Or you.”
“You know I can handle it, question is, can her uncles?”
“Are you kidding me? They love her. And Angelo loves giving her piggyback rides. She won’t have any friends… Or an actual bed… And some of the fans… Some of them don’t like you… I won’t let her or you get hurt…”
You smiled and put your hand on his cheek. “We’ll figure it out.”
He smiled back. “We will.”
Willow ran back into the room with Edward Scissorhands, her favorite movie.
“This one.” She smiled. “Put it on Daddy!”
Chris smiled as he held the DVD in his hand. He put it in the DVD player and tossed Willow around whilst he got back into bed.
“Willow… Why is this your favorite movie?” You asked.
“Because Edward looks like Uncle Ghost.”
Chris started laughing and you smacked him.
“Stop that.” You both chuckled.
“Daddy…”
“Hmm?”
“Will a big bus take you and my uncles?” She asked.
“Yes, but I promise you, I’m coming back.”
“Why can’t mommy and I come too?” She asked as she grabbed your hand.
“I’m gonna see if you can, but if you can’t… Can you promise me something?” He smiled.
She nodded. “To help mommy and be a good girl?”
“Yes. Promise you’ll come back?” She asked.
“Pinky promise.” He grinned.
“Daddy, your eyebrows are gone.”
He laughed and kissed her cheek. “I know. I’ll draw them on tomorrow, but right now someone should be watching her favorite movie and falling asleep so that daddy can protect her.”
She kissed his cheek, kissed your cheek, and watched the movie. In a matter of minutes she was knocked out, clinging onto Chris, not wanting to let go. He fell asleep with his arms around her.
“She’s such a daddy’s girl.” You chuckled.
“I’m glad.” He grinned. “I’ll make sure it stays that way. She’s my princess.”
You turned off the movie, the lights, and went to bed with your beautiful family.
