Han JisungThe streets of Seoul were noisy, bustling with life in every possible way. It was dark and slightly too cold for comfort, but it was alive. He always loved the city, something his old friends laughed at. How are you so uncomfortable around strangers, but love being in busy areas?
In the city, you could be alone without being by yourself. The world was rushing, but time stood still. You could be yourself and not be seen. Not truly.
Jisung made his way from the entrance of his company building down a side street, to one of the only buildings open at this hour. Kit's was a cat cafe he had been eyeing since he moved into the company dorms. It was something Minho would love, which was mostly why he had avoided it. He was caught in a never ending limbo of wanting to be reminded of Minho, and wanting to run from his feelings.
He pushed the door open, hearing a chime of a bell. The employee snapped his head up immediately,
presumably the only person on shift. He knew his cheeks had gone red at the attention of it. He would blame it on the change of temperature from the cold weather outside, to a comfortable warmth in the cafe."Welcome to Kit's. Please use the sanitizer by the door before you sit. And be mindful of your volume, it's quiet hours right now," the boy greeted bluntly. The boy was around his age, hair dyed blonde with bangs hanging in his eyes. Something about the tone of his voice made Jisung more comfortable to joke back than he usually would be.
"Only bother the cats if they bother me first right?" Jisung chimed in.
"No bothering the cats or the staff if you can keep from it." And ah. There was a familiar flatness to his voice that made Jisung go stiff. More nasal-toned and clipped than he was used to, but strikingly familiar.
"Do you know what you want to order or do you need a few minutes?"
He hated ordering for himself, but he was unsettled enough about the employee that he forgot to be nervous about it. "Just an americano. Regular. Iced." He wanted the cheesecake in the window, but his weight was being monitored too regularly to give into dessert right now.
"Name for the order?"
"I'm the only person in here?"
"Name for the order," the employee repeated in exasperation.
"Jisung."
Seungmin, his nametag read, had his coffee to him before Jisung could even sit down. An efficiency to it that matched his demeanor. He kept narrowing his eyes at him, trying to subtly stare at him, but he was failing miserably. Whatever the boy was searching for in his face was clearly bothering him, but Jisung was just as clueless.
A grey and white shorthair cat rubbed against him. Jisung reached his hand in front of the cat's nose, letting the cat sniff him, before the cat nuzzled right up against his hand in contentment.
