Chapter 2

After the masquerade ball, Namjoon and Jin went back to their daily routines, unaware of the invisible thread fate was weaving between them.

Namjoon continued his music passion, visiting the café as his sanctuary for creativity. Jin, too, stuck to his routine, dropping by every morning for his beloved coffee fix. Neither knew how close they were to each other, or that their friends were still determined to bring them together.

Hoseok, the bundle of energy among their friends, didn’t give up hope. He thought of a different way to make Namjoon and Jin meet again. He planned a community cleanup event and convinced both Namjoon and Jin to join, hoping they might cross paths.

The day of the cleanup arrived, and amidst the litter-picking and tree-planting, Namjoon and Jin found themselves unknowingly working side by side. Namjoon was immersed in picking up trash, his mind humming with melodies while Jin was passionately planting saplings, his focus on nurturing nature.

Their friends, watching from a distance, tried their best to orchestrate a ‘coincidental’ meeting. Hoseok kept trying to guide Namjoon towards Jin, while Yoongi, being his observant self, subtly steered Jin in Namjoon’s direction. But fate had different plans.

As Namjoon bent down to pick up a stray candy wrapper, his backpack accidentally knocked into Jin’s gardening tools, causing a small commotion. Both turned to see what had happened, and before anyone could say a word, a mischievous squirrel leaped out of nowhere, darting between them, causing a bit of chaos.

Their friends, frustrated yet amused by the turn of events, watched as Namjoon and Jin laughed together at the squirrel’s antics. It was a small moment, but in that laughter, a spark flickered—a shared joy in the unexpected.

Despite their friends’ efforts going haywire again, Namjoon and Jin found themselves connecting in these little moments of laughter. They didn’t notice their friends’ attempts to bring them closer; instead, they were drawn to each other by their shared humor amidst the unintentional chaos.

As the cleanup event came to an end, Namjoon and Jin exchanged a nod and a smile, feeling a sense of familiarity without truly understanding why. Their friends, slightly disappointed that their plan didn’t work as intended, still held onto hope that something magical was brewing between Namjoon and Jin.

Days passed, and life continued for both Namjoon and Jin, each day bringing them closer without them realizing it. They’d pass by the café at different times, sometimes just moments apart, yet always missing each other by a hair’s breadth.

Their friends, not ready to give up, thought of a new plan. They decided to throw a surprise birthday party for Hoseok, using it as an excuse to get Namjoon and Jin together again.

The party day arrived, and Hoseok was genuinely surprised. Their friends had put in a lot of effort, decorating the place with balloons and streamers, preparing Hoseok’s favorite foods, and inviting a small group of friends.

Namjoon and Jin arrived separately, both unaware that they were walking into the same event. As they entered, their friends tried their best to orchestrate a ‘natural’ meeting. Hoseok, with his contagious enthusiasm, introduced Namjoon and Jin to everyone, hoping they’d hit it off.

But as luck would have it, Namjoon was engrossed in a conversation with Taehyung about music, while Jin was busy discussing cooking techniques with Jimin and Jungkook. Despite their friends’ efforts to bring them together, they were once again ships passing in the night.

Hoseok, feeling a bit defeated, tried one last attempt to make Namjoon and Jin notice each other. He announced a silly game that required everyone to partner up, hoping they'd end up together by chance. Yet, in the confusion and excitement, Namjoon was partnered with Yoongi, and Jin found himself paired with Taehyung.

Their friends exchanged exasperated yet amused glances, realizing that fate seemed to enjoy teasing Namjoon and Jin by keeping them apart despite their best efforts.

Unbeknownst to Namjoon and Jin, they were closer than they thought. Their friends, although a bit disheartened by the series of near-misses, clung to the hope that the universe was just playing a little game before finally uniting Namjoon and Jin in a way they couldn’t ignore.
