Once again, insomnia was eating Winter alive. She knew what she had to do. She put on a hoodie and silently made her way out of the Slytherin common room. She made her way to the astronomy tower. She loved walking in the castle at night, for it was peaceful and she could see it's actual beauty for what is is. She arrived at the top of the tower and sat down. She grabbed a pen and a paper she always kept hidden in a secret spot and started writing lyrics. Once she was done, she started singing.

all this time, we always walked a very thin line, you didn't even hear me out, I gave so many signs. All this time, never learned to read my mind, you never turned things around, I gave so many signs, so many signs, so many signs, you didn't even see the signs. I think I've seen this film before, and I didn't like the ending, you're not my homeland anymore, so what am I defending now, you were my town, now I'm in exile seeing you out.

Professor Riddle couldn't fall asleep, he was staring at the wall trying to sleep. He tossed and turned but nothing worked. Suddenly, he heard a voice, a whisper. It was a girl's voice, singing.

all this time, we always walked a very thin line

he thought her voice was angelic, it was so beautiful.

you didn't even hear me out, I gave so many signs. All this time, never learned to read my mind, you never turned things around, I gave so many signs, so many signs, so many signs, you didn't even see the signs. I think I've seen this film before, and I didn't like the ending, you're not my homeland anymore, so what am I defending now, you were my town, now I'm in exile seeing you out.

he listened to the voice and found it soothing, but full of pain. He wondered to who this voice belonged to. He kept listening as the voice sang the same lyrics over and over with so much pain. He soon fell asleep, dreaming about the angelic voice.

It was 3 AM when Winter walked back to her dorm, silently. She crawled in her bed and finally fell asleep.

The next morning, as always, Naila would wake her up. Because Winter only slept 4 hours, she was extra grumpy. She yelled at Naila for waking her up. She angrily got ready and stormed out of her dorm without waiting for Naila and Pansy. She almost ran to the Great Hall and sat next to Draco and Theo.

''Don't talk to me, I only had four hours of sleep.'' She said, giving the boys death stares.

''Insomnia again?'' Theo asked.

''Yes.''

The boys left her alone, knowing it was best to stay silent before she hexes them. Winter stared at her food, unable to eat. Her first class of the day was defense against the dark arts and she was happy about it because she could see Professor Riddle. Because she couldn't eat anything, she grabbed her books and stormed out of the Great Hall, walking towards her classroom. Professor Riddle was at his usual spot, at his desk, reading a paper.  When he heard her coming into the room, he looked up and stared at her.

''Good morning, Miss Blackwood.'' He said.

Winter ignored him, still grumpy from her lack of sleep.

''Winter, I talked to you.''

''What?'' Winter almost yelled in a rude way.

''Did someone wake up on the wrong side of the bed?'' Professor Riddle asked, raising his eyebrow at Winter.

''Something like that.'' Winter mumbled under her breath.

Professor Riddle got up and walked towards Winter's desk. He placed a paper on her desk and looked into her eyes.

''Here's today's paper. Feel free to read it.'' He said, walking back to his desk.

Winter started reading her paper and soon, she felt Draco and Theo sitting next to her. The class soon started and Professor Riddle started teaching the class about dark magic spells. Ginny Weasley then raised her hand.

''Yes, Miss Weasley.'' Professor Riddle said.

''Is it really a good idea teaching this when there's students like Winter Blackwood who could use those spells against other students?'' Ginny asked.

''Oh shit.'' Theo said, knowing what was about to happen.

Winter looked up from her paper.

''You know that I'm right here, right, slut?'' Winter said standing up.

Ginny stood up and turned to look at Winter.

''It's true, you almost killed Hermione last time!''

''And I might try to kill you now if you don't shut your mouth, blood traitor.'' Winter said, smirking.

Ginny's eyes grew bigger as she realized what Winter just said to her.

''I am not a blood traitor! I am a pureblood!''

''Yeah with no fucking money, using second hand and living in the ugliest wannabe house I've ever seen in my entire life!'' Winter laughed.

''At least I have parents who love me and don't beat me!''

''That's it!'' Winter said, taking out her wand and hexing Ginny.

Professor Riddle ended Winter's hexing and sent Ginny to the hospital wing.

''That will be all for today's class.'' He said as the students walked out of the room.

Winter was going to leave until Professor Riddle spoke.

''Not you Miss Blackwood. You're staying.''

Winter sat back down on her chair and looked at Professor Riddle.

''Another incident where you nearly killed another student, Winter. I might have to take that book away from you.'' Professor Riddle said as he walked towards her and sat on the desk in front of her.

''You could, but I finished it. I doubt it would change anything.''

''You need to calm down, before you get expelled.''

''No. Those sluts need to calm down.''

''Language, Miss Blackwood.''

Winter rolled her eyes.

''Detention again tonight. Be there.''

Winter nodded and walked out of the classroom and headed towards her next class, which was astronomy. She sat next to Theo who looked at her and sighed.

''What happened?'' He asked.

''I have detention tonight, again.'' Winter said.

''I can't believe you.'' Theo said.

Winter rolled her eyes and paid attention to the class. For the rest of the day, she was mad and would give death stares to anyone who dared to look at her. Soon enough, the end of the day came and Winter made her way to detention. She had a music homework to do, she had to learn a song for the Christmas choir. She entered the Defense against the dark arts classroom and sat in the back, as always.

''Good evening, Miss Blackwood. Again, I expect silence, though you are alone. No bathroom breaks until the end of the detention.'' Professor Riddle spoke.

''I have a musical homework to do and I need to sing.'' Winter said.

''It's okay. Amaze me with your musical talents.''

Winter started singing the song and Professor Riddle looked up from his paper. He recognized the voice. It was the angelic voice he heard in the middle of the night. The voice belonged to Winter. He wondered why he heard her sing in his head. It felt so real, as if she was singing next to him. He listened to her singing the Christmas song in awe.

''You have an angelic voice.'' He said.

''So I've heard.'' She said as she kept singing.

Soon, the detention was over and she made her way to the Great Hall for dinner. She sat next to Draco and Naila. She noticed Theo wasn't there and wondered where he was.

''Have you guys seen Theo?'' Winter asked.

''No he walked back to the common room after fourth period and I haven't seen him since.'' Draco said.

Winter nodded and ate her dinner in silence. She then made her way to the common room expecting to find Theo, but he was nowhere to be found. The evening went on and soon enough, she went to bed.
