After waiting outside for a few minutes, the sound of a door opening reached Xu Hao's ears. He eagerly peeked out and saw Zhang Yi approaching with a silver briefcase in hand. Xu Hao's eyes focused on the briefcase, finding it mysteriously intriguing, unaware of its contents.
Zhang Yi walked up to Xu Hao, speaking calmly, "Do you know what I used to do before?"
Xu Hao hesitated for a moment and then shook his head. In the past, he was just a rich second-generation, and Zhang Yi was just an ordinary young man in the neighborhood. Why would he care about Zhang Yi's background?
"I used to be a boxer," Zhang Yi continued. "In 2041, I won the championship in the first Southeast Asia free-fighting competition."
"In 2042, I defeated Sakura's heavy artillery hand, Lei Long, sweeping the floor with Sakura Country's karate experts for three consecutive years."
"Later, I joined the French mercenaries, engaged in constant battles in the Middle East, earning the nickname 'Half Fox!'"
"Tired of the killings in the martial world, I returned to the country. Now, I'm just an ordinary killer and warehouse manager."
Xu Hao's scalp tingled, never expecting the man in front of him, besides being handsome, had so many hidden identities!
Xu Hao thought to himself: No wonder, no wonder his marksmanship is so powerful, and he doesn't hesitate to kill. I was right; this person is either a retired urban king of soldiers or a professional killer. Indeed, that's the case!
He's a real big shot. If I can team up with him in this post-apocalyptic world, I can definitely survive!
As Zhang Yi spoke, he opened the silver briefcase in his hand.
"When I was a mercenary, I often captured some difficult-to-handle prisoners. So, for dealing with those stubborn or malicious people, we had special methods."
While speaking, Zhang Yi kept his eyes fixed on Xu Hao.
Xu Hao's body tensed, feeling extremely fearful.
After opening the briefcase, Zhang Yi took out a syringe containing a blue liquid. The deep blue color immediately made Xu Hao think of poison. This scene had been seen more than once in movies.
Fearful, Xu Hao stepped back, saying, "Zhang Ge, Zhang Ge, what are you going to do?"
Zhang Yi, indifferent to his words, said, "This is a type of slow-acting poison we often use. It takes a week to take effect after injection, and without an antidote, death is certain."
"If you want me to believe you, let me give you an injection. Rest assured, once we take over Wang Siming's shelter, I'll give you the antidote."
Xu Hao widened his eyes, "What? It's really poison!"
"No, don't come over!" Xu Hao, afraid, retreated continuously.
Zhang Yi, ignoring his words, said, "It's too late for that! We've come this far; whether you like it or not, it's happening!"
After saying that, he held down Xu Hao, pushing him against the wall. Then, with a determined and steady hand, he inserted the needle into Xu Hao's buttocks, tearing off his pants.
Xu Hao shed tears of humiliation.
Zhang Yi finished quickly, put away the syringe, and smiled at him, saying, "From now on, you're mine."
Xu Hao, shaking and struggling to pull up his pants, suddenly felt his head spinning, and he collapsed to the ground.
"Ugh... ugh..."
Xu Hao knelt on the ground, feeling extremely uncomfortable—dizziness, dry heaves, chest tightness, and even difficulty breathing.
This made him even more convinced that he had been poisoned!
Zhang Yi calmly said, "No need to panic; this poison is slow-acting. I'm just doing this to eliminate the need for mutual suspicion between us."
"This way, if you betray me, you won't survive either."
"After I take over that shelter, there's no need for me to kill you. Instead, I'll provide you with plenty of food and a comfortable living environment."
After a while of dry heaving, Xu Hao, although feeling unhappy, knew that he had gained Zhang Yi's trust.
"I understand. After I go back, I'll contact Wang Siming immediately, and we'll go as soon as possible!"
Zhang Yi nodded, "Good. Go back for now; I'll give you further instructions in the future."
Breathing heavily, Xu Hao struggled down the stairs.
Zhang Yi watched him leave, feeling a slight relief. Agreeing to cooperate with Xu Hao and spying on the $1 billion shelter was also a significant challenge for him.
"Clean up the issues in this neighborhood first, and then take a look over there!"
Zhang Yi had his own arrangements in mind.
Back home, he checked the hospital room through surveillance. Uncle You had already woken up, and Sherry was holding her child, whispering something beside him.
Although Zhang Yi couldn't hear them, he knew it wasn't anything good.
With a slight smile, he walked over and opened the door. Hearing the door opening, Sherry immediately closed her mouth, pretending to comfort the child.
Ignoring her, Zhang Yi smiled at Uncle You. "Uncle You, you're awake! I was really worried; fortunately, you're okay."
Uncle You still looked a bit weak. He forced a smile and said to Zhang Yi, "Luckily, you have a doctor here; otherwise, I might not have survived."
"I heard you took care of Huang Tian and those people? You're quite something!"
Zhang Yi laughed, "What are they? They're not worth mentioning to me."
As he spoke, he unbuttoned his coat, revealing the bulletproof vest inside.
"I have a bulletproof vest on, and they thought they had some secret weapon with a broken gun. It was useless against me!"
Uncle You widened his eyes, his mouth hanging open in embarrassment.
He had risked his life to help Zhang Yi block bullets, only to find out it was unnecessary.
Zhang Yi chuckled, "It's my fault for not telling you earlier. Who could have expected them to suddenly turn violent?"
"Fortunately, you're okay. Otherwise, I would feel guilty."
Uncle You looked awkward, "No, I didn't help much. Thank you for saving me!"
Zhang Yi waved his hand, "No need to be so polite. Your good intentions are enough for me to appreciate."
In just a few words, Zhang Yi made Uncle You understand that he didn't owe him much; he had just accepted his goodwill.
This had to be made clear to avoid future trouble.
