Anastasia's POV

It had been a week since Elena and her family died in the fire. It was the day of the planting. I didn't even feel like going. I knew it was my fault and I felt i didn't deserve to attend. Of course I had to go anyways. The only people who knew the truth of the accident was my parents, my brother, and the council.

TIME SKIP

I stood in the condolence line with my family. When we reached the front of the line, I noticed the entire council had came to the planting. I gulped. I curtsied and offered my condolences to the aunts and uncles and all those relatives that I don't know. I walked out of the line and went to see the other attendants. I saw Grady, Edaline, lord Cassius, lady Gisela, Keefe, Alden, Della, Avlar, Fitz, Biana, Percy, Annabeth, Leo, and Dex. I tried to sound enthusiastic but deep down, I couldn't believe Elena was dead. It was my fault, if I had protested against the dress up party and insisted on the homework, she would still be here. I didn't trust myself around anyone else anymore. Then it came to me. A reckless, impulsive decision. I should run away from home.
