A total stranger that turns to be your own solace.
As you walked through the empty hallway, you saw a boy struggling carrying some books on his hands. He doesn't look familiar to you so you assume that he is new to your campus.
Without hesitation, you walk faster towards him as you offer to help.
"Oh, thanks." The boy quietly mumbled as he glanced at you.
"Akin na 'yung iba, tulungan na kita." Alok mo naman. He snatched the books from your hands and was slightly smiling at you. Tumanggi naman siya sa tulong mo.
"No, it's fine, really. Kaya ko na, salamat!" The boy shouted as he walks towards the library.
You find him very cute. And that's where you felt something that you never felt in your entire life!
You shrugged the feelings off dahil alam mo naman na pabiro at puro laro lang 'yang tadhana para sa 'yo.
Or so you thought.
Bumalik ka naman agad sa room mo as the class will start in 5 minutes. As you walked in to your classroom, you saw the boy who you bumped into earlier.
Turns out, kaklase mo pala siya.
"Good morning, everyone! My name is Kevin Patel." The boy you helped earlier introduced himself infront of the class. Nagkatinginan pa kayo at hindi mo namalayan na nakaupo na pala siya sa tabi mo.
"Hi," ngiting saad niya.
You smiled back at him. Nilahad niya naman ang kanang kamay niya para sa isang handshake at agad mo naman iyon tinanggap.
Don't trust him that easily. Bulong mo sa sarili mo.
Tapos na ang morning classes niyo kaya break time niyo na. Dahil wala kang magawa, you glared at the man beside you.
Iniisip mo na you should give him a tour around the campus para naman maka-explore siya.
"Gusto mo ba i-tour kita sa buong school?" Alok mo naman sa bagong dating. He shook his head and innocently smiled at you.
"It's fine. Tara, kain na lang tayo. I'll treat you na lang as a thank you for helping me earlier." He said.
Tinatrato ka niya na parang magkaibigan na kayo, dati pa. You never had a friend like him. You were never been this happy. During lunch breaks, you feel happy and comfortable around him. Hindi mo alam kung paano nangyari iyon– especially na kakakilala mo lang sa kaniya. Usually, you don't feel safe and comfortable around random people, lalo na 'pag 'di mo kilala. Pero pagdating kay Kevin, bakit parang komportableng-kumportable ka? As if you knew each other before.
"Oo nga pala, ano pangalan mo?" he asks you while he was looking at you straight in the eyes.
Natawa ka naman sa kaniya, "Kanina pa tayo nagke-kwentuhan pero hindi mo pala alam pangalan ko?" natatawa mong sabi. He scratched the back of his nape.
"Violet. Violet Ann Dela Cruz ang pangalan ko," sagot mo naman.
"Ganda,"
Months had passed at naging magkaibigan nga kayo. You were both irreplaceable. Lagi kayong magkasama tuwing break time. You felt like you were a nobody until you met him.
Akala ng iba ay nilalandi mo ang bagong dating. The rumors spread around the whole campus hanggang makarating ito kay Kevin.
As a result, iniiwasan mo siya para maiwasan ang kumakalat na chismis. Bakit? Para makaiwas sa gulo. While avoiding him, you felt a slight sting in your heart. He was your only friend.
