Jace

When he found Damon, he was standing with his arms folded glaring down at a furious Kennedy.

Great. The last person that Jace wanted to see. He hoped that he would be able to coax Damon away from her but there was a fight that Kennedy ignited within Damon every time they spoke.

"I told you it's none of your business." Kennedy glared, in one of her crossed hands she held her phone which vibrated consistently. The screen lit up with 'MUM' in bold letters. Perhaps that was why she wasn't in the mood to have a proper girls night.

"You don't need to snap at me, I was just showing concern." He was irritated, his fingers flexed into fists that fell to his side.

"You were just being nosy. It's none of your business." Kennedy continued unaware at Jace approaching from behind her. "You people are all so fucking nosy about my life, it's like entertainment to you all."

"What's going on?" Jace asked at the same time Damon growled, "You people?"

Her jaw clenched when she looked at Jace it was like her eyes turned to molten ice. The shade of blue at the very bottom of a flame, waiting to explode. Personally, Jace didn't want to deal with any temper tantrums tonight.

"Leave me alone, I mean it." With that she turned on her heel stomping further down the aisle, pausing at the end to answer her phone. Unknown to her she hadn't gone far enough to escape earshot of the two shifters.

"What is it?" She snapped answering the phone. Pity filled him at the poor soul who was at the other end of the phone. "No it's fine. No. I'm not coming back now I've made plans with Liv. Yeah well you made your opinions pretty clear." A sigh and then. "You might as well just stay with him. Don't cry. Look mum I'm sorry for snapping, it's okay. I'll be home tomorrow morning I don't want to cancel on Liv now."

Tuning out of her conversation, "Let's go." Jace beckoned to Damon trying to get him to walk towards the tills. His Alpha had a glazed look in his eyes rapidly blinking to get it away.

"Did you find the painkillers?"

"Didn't you look for them?"

After a brief pause at the medical aisle, they stopped at the tills. Jace winked at Liv who was packing her bag whilst Kennedy was still on the phone by the front doors. Her pacing kept activating the automatic doors making cold air enter the supermarket.

For once, Jace was driving, Damon was slumped in the passenger seat with his hands over his eyes. The hangover was well and truly hitting him now, all he wanted was to go home and sleep.

As Jace drove, he contemplated how to tell Damon that he had gotten out of control. It'd nearly been twenty-four hours since he had a drink yet the smell of alcohol emanated from his pores. Sure, it was only shifters that could scent it but eventually his parents would notice then Damon would be in massive trouble. Subsequently, so would Jace and Marcus, they all lived together there was no way that the Alphas wouldn't hold them accountable for letting Damon get so bad.

Himself and Marcus had agreed to sit him down and gently talk about it, not exactly a confrontation more like two friends expressing their concern for him. Damon didn't tale criticism lightly, and Jace knew that he would probably get pissed at them but maybe his behaviour was a cry for help so Jace had to step in.

When they pulled up to their house, a small wooden bungalow that was more spacious than it looked from the outside, two thoughts went through Jace's mind. One, was how Damon was going to react and the other was if Liv would ever move in with him.

They were moving at a weird pace, not slow enough to be called human and not quick enough to be called shifter. Just like his halfblood status that followed him like a taunting shadow wherever he went.
